I'd imagine it's down to the way you pronounce the letter "Z" rather than how many e's are in the word

That doesn't make a lot of sense, Z in English is pronounced ZED and in America ZEE but it only has one sound in English, now in German, that's a whole different ballgame!

Well, If you pronounce it Zed, I think you'd pronounce the word like Ze-Bra where as if you pronounce it as Zee then you'd pronouce it as Zee-bra. I pronounce it as Zee btw and I'm not American

The initial "Z" has the same sound in both, it is the second letter that sounds different!

I use Zed in Britain but Zee when in North America and Tset in Germany!

I just realized that i say ze-bra when I'm saying Ze-bra crossing but Zee-bra for the animal hhhmmm now I'm confusing myself
