Tuesday dilemma...

...Your boss is having an affair for which you have evidence... your boss fires you for being persistently late for work.. would you be tempted to use the evidence of his/her affair to blackmail your job back..?..

Jesus. 01-10-2013 02:12 PM

No. If you're constantly late, then you are the only one responsible for your sacking. I'd find out a way to get the evidence to his partner though.

Tregard 01-10-2013 02:14 PM

Depends how well paid the job was.

Niamh. 01-10-2013 02:15 PM

Nah, I don't think so, I wouldn't fancy working in an environment where I'd blackmailed my boss lol

If the cap fits, wear it. You're renowned for sleeping in till all hours, so I thought you may be struggling to keep your boss onside.

Glenn. 01-10-2013 02:23 PM

No I wouldn't blackmail. But like Jesus, I certainly make sure his partner found out. Just for my own enjoyment really.

That's called Schadenfreude, it's despicable but ever so satisfying!

Kate! 01-10-2013 02:37 PM

I wouldn't be able to work there again under those circumstances, the atmosphere would be awful.

I'd make sure the info got back to the partner though.

AnnieK 01-10-2013 02:38 PM

I wouldn't blackmail but I would "accidently" send the evidence to everyone in my inbox....

smudgie 01-10-2013 03:07 PM

No, if I was sacked for a genuine reason then so be it.
Why should his wife/partner suffer by me sending evidence of his affair.
Leave them to it.

Yeah, I agree with that, staying out of other peoples relationships is a good thing I think.

I wouldn't do it as revenge, I'd do it for the reason of letting his partner know. I'm always of the opinion that I'd want to know if it was happening to me.

alot of times the partner does know but doesn't want to if you know what I mean? Unless it was someone I knew very well, I'd stay out of it

..the thing is though that it would be the partner you would hurt most, not him..and whether she/he was going to get hurt anyway and someone else would tell them, I couldn't be the one to do that to someone else...

Do you think you'd be capable of telling them without feeling like you were getting revenge though? Surely that's how everyone else would see it as you getting even, even if you really believed you weren't doing it as an act of revenge.

Natalie. 01-10-2013 06:39 PM

I wouldn't want to work there again but I'd think about yelling his wife. I think I'd like to know if I was being cheated on

Marsh. 01-10-2013 07:51 PM

Yeah, I'd accept the sacking.

But then go all Emily Thorne and make sure his partner found the evidence.

I'd probably feel a bit guilty but then decide it was for the best, I was punished for my actions. He must be punished for his.

joeysteele 01-10-2013 08:49 PM

No, revenge isn't my thing, I think you can just eat yourself up with thoughts of revenge and it will likely bring the very worst out of yourself too.
With really little and mostly nothing gained at all.

Samm 01-10-2013 09:05 PM

I would get sacked but I would not blackmail him I would jest tell everyone anyway

MeMyselfAndI 01-10-2013 09:10 PM

I'd do it for revenge

I suppose it depends on the circumstances, sometimes there are other factors to take into account. My last boss was always having affairs here there and everywhere, and regularly used high class prostitutes. I am sure his wife knew, and only stayed with him for his money anyway, so it wouldn't have made much difference.

I don't think I could do it though if someone was "happily married" in theory and their partner was oblivious to it, especially if kids were involved. If they get caught and ruin their own life, that's their fault, I would not want to contribute to breaking up a family.

Might be different though if I'd had a few and they seriously pissed me off.

King Gizzard 01-10-2013 10:58 PM

I'd do nothing because I'm a pussy

Kizzy 01-10-2013 11:35 PM

I would demand a new position, and a permenant contract
