What can I do with a baby Pitbull?

I have come into the possession of a puppy Pitbull. Thought they was illegal in the UK at first but after googling they're not as long as you have them chipped, neutered, always wearing a mussel in public, etc. But anyway, I already have a dog that doesn't like other dogs so I can't keep him, and everyone I know already has a dog/isn't allowed pets at their flats. Someone had told me that there was like a Pitbull rescue centre thing but I can't find a one in Britain, only an American-based one. I'd rather not advertise him in papers and stuff incase he ends up with some scumbag that uses him for a fighting dog like pitbulls usually end up as instead of doing it the legal way and having him as a proper pet.

Bulldog twitter pages, facebook pages? Sure 'scumbags' wouldn't use twitter or social media

"I have come into the possession of a puppy Pitbull"

how have you managed this?

Shaun 02-10-2013 12:16 AM

call him Mr. Worldwide

Benjamin 02-10-2013 12:17 AM

Aw, he's cute. Try advertising via facebook etc. You don't have to give him to the first person that shows interest, you can have a few people come check him out and then decide which one you get the best vibe from.

Just checked and can only find American/foreign ones

Benjamin 02-10-2013 12:19 AM

What about the RSPCA?

Mrluvaluva 02-10-2013 12:22 AM

Try somewhere like this, or something similar local. You can advertise via the site. I am sure if you email them, they can give you advice and put you in contact with somewhere.

You will never be 100% sure of people who re-home animals, you've just got to use your better judgement.

As far as I know the things to legalize him that I mentioned in the OP haven't been done to him yet, so I don't really want to take him into anywhere incase they report him as illegal or something and he ends up getting put down.

My brother brought it home after some kid was trying to get rid of it in the park about a week ago, not sure who he was but he said it was 8 weeks old then so it's 9 weeks now. I don't know who the owner was before but it looks like they have cut/cropped his ears.

Locke. 02-10-2013 01:11 AM

Might give these guys a call they seem pretty good http://www.liverpooldogrescue.co.uk/...dog/4569143673

Kizzy 02-10-2013 01:20 AM

Yep I meant just ring, there must be responsible owners of this breed if theres info on how to register them correctly?
Let's hope you get passed to someone who can help.

Mrluvaluva 02-10-2013 01:26 AM

Obviously my input isn't needed. :idc:

Locke. 02-10-2013 01:40 AM

I had a look at the site you posted but as far as I saw they could only advertise him on their website, and I could really do with him being gone quickly because while he is staying here he is spending most of the day locked in my brothers room because he can't walk around the house or anything because of my other dog that we've had for 10 years. Hes been getting taken out for regular walks, fed, given water, etc, but doesn't really seem fair to keep him locked up most the day when he should really be allowed to go where he wants.

Ammi 02-10-2013 03:26 AM

..there are lots of Staffordshire Bull Terrier rescue centres or the Staff Association, maybe they would be able to advise you if you contacted one of them..?...

Ammi 02-10-2013 03:26 AM

..he's gorgeous btw...

Odd rather snotty thing to say, but yea I can assure you that I do. Source: I use them.

x-evenstar-x 02-10-2013 07:17 AM

Aww he is the cutest little thing! Can't you take him to a dogs trust? I'd take him but i think a few people would be unhappy :-(

Also I think it's rediculous that some dogs are illegal! Make the owners bloody illegal, they should be banned!

Kate! 02-10-2013 07:18 AM

Dogs Trust - that advertise on the telly (we never put a healthy dog down) for people to sponsor dogs might be able to help and I'm sure there's one in Liverpool.

Ammi 02-10-2013 07:37 AM

..also it might be a cross..staff/pitbull etc..it is hard to tell at that age but cross breeds are more common...I know my parents in law have rescued staffs that have been crossed with pitbulls before and I think that if you contact the Staff Association they will come to you, so you won't have to travel yourself....here are a couple of links...
