Midweek dilemma...
 

...your best friend proudly gives you a picture she/he has painted and you absolutely hate it, it's technically good but just not your thing at all..you know that they'll expect you to put it up on the wall but you know it's going to really bother you to do that...would you display it so as to not hurt their feelings..?...

I would take it, then after a short time I would say my mum came over and said it was lovely!, so much so I let her have it.[ that's the get out of jail answer!]
if someone had taken the time to paint me I would put it up.

This reminds me of the Friends episode where Phoebe gives away her 'art' to Rachel and Monica :laugh:

I would just take it and hang it somewhere in the house that isn't used much and just ignore it.. maybe smash it or burn the house down for an excuse as to why it's gone

I'd get a picture I loved that was the same size, and hang that somewhere, then whenever my friend came round I'd swap them and put her picture there and then swap back when she left.

My best friend has never even been to my house, but she has bought me some odd things over the years. Last year for xmas I got a pair of dangling skull ear rings and a skull scarf. Im not into skulls so I have no idea why she bought me them, the only time I would remotely think of wearing them is Halloween. Have I ever wore them in her company? No has she ever asked? No, do I still have them? yes in the plastic drawers lol So would I hang the pic up? No but I would keep it just incase.

I would just hang it on my wall. :blush:

I'd just say it's not to my liking, and I wont be putting it up.

That's funny, I was up in my brothers house yesterday and my sister in law was talking about a picture they got as a wedding present from a neighbour that she hung in the bathroom, it is actually a nice picture and it goes well with the colour scheme in their bathroom but we were saying it's not really a good gift to give someone as everyone has different taste and you may not like someone elses or even if you do like it, it may not fit in with your decor. So hhmmm, I probably wouldn't hang it up permanently lol but I'd probably swap it over another one if I knew they were calling We live far enough away from our friends and family that they wouldn't really just drop by without calling first :laugh:

..I remember Sooty telling me..(and I don’t think she’ll mind me saying this because she posted it in a thread..)..her friend gave her some ornaments and she hated them, they weren’t her thing at all but she would display them anyway..(lovely Sooty..)..but when she was moving she donated some stuff to the charity shops as you do and it was time for those ghastly ornaments to go..(not her words, just a quick-ish version..)..anyway her friend noticed their absence and commented so Sooty tried to see if she could buy them back from the charity shop but they were gone..:amazed:...so I think in the end she had to say that they had got lost or broken in the move..all quite stressful for poor Sooty so Wanna is right, honesty is the best policy but if you were to ask Sooty I think she would tell you that some friends are easier to be ‘honest' to than others....

awww I don't, I couldn't tell my friend that I hated a picture she went to the trouble of painting, I think in some cases a little white lie to spare someones feelings, is the best policy :laugh:

Would I put a picture my friend gave me up on the wall? Would a friend give me a picture? That is the question here :idc:

I'd hang it up, I would appreciate they thought of me to even give me it.

I am someone who is always changing things around at home anyway,it would not seem odd for me for a time to have something there and then it slowly fade into the distance if I really didn't like it.

I would put it where no one can see the picture but my friends would not give be a picture that they painted anyway
