[US forces launched raids in Libya and
Somalia on Saturday,
capturing a top al-Qaida figure wanted
for the 1998 US embassy bombings
in Kenya and Tanzania, but failing
to secure the target in Somalia,
US officials said.
Senior al-Qaida figure Anas al-Liby
was seized in the raid in Libya, but
no militant
was captured in the raid on the Somali
town of Barawe, the officials said,
speaking on condition of anonymity.
The Pentagon confirmed US military
personnel had been involved in
an operation against what it called
"a known al-Shabaab terrorist"
in Somalia, but gave no more details.
One US official, speaking to Reuters
on condition of anonymity, said the
al-Shabaab leader targeted in the
operation was neither captured nor killed.]

That 1998 USA Embassy
in Kenya
was the start
of World Terrorism,
then 9/11, so
tracking those Terrorists
is on going

Since when did Govt's sneak around and use special forces to snatch individuals from other countries ? Based on possibility they may be terrorists .

A dangerous game to play as the " terrorists" may decide to start playing also and start targeting US politicians for assassination... !!!!

they have the be 99.5% certain that the terrorist lives there before they take action. It often takes more than a year for them to get enough evidence that there is a 'terrorist' living in a residence.

they don't just 'sneak' in to play a game. It's to protect the country.

Yeah right.... !!!! Sounds like kidnap to me ...!!!!

Ninastar 06-10-2013 06:33 PM

You think that. You've got no idea what the US does to protect its country and what lies are hidden in the media.

Nedusa 06-10-2013 06:51 PM

Sorry don't agree, there are rules to be followed even by the US, eg collect the evidence present the evidence obtain an international arrest warrant then arrest and extradite the suspect....

Don't just play judge, jury and executioner because once the rules go out of the window all bets are off and it will all get very messy....!!!!

Would be more concerned about the raid they did in Libya, since it seems they weren't made aware of the US's plans

I think the US are doing a good thing. They are going after really bad people, ones who will bring misery to loads if given the chance.

That captured terrorist spent 5 years living
in Manchester

[al Libi turned up in Britain in 1995
where he was granted political asylum
under unclear circumstances
and lived in Manchester.
He was arrested by the Metropolitan Police
in 1999, but was released because of lack
of evidence and later fled the UK.]
