Most overrated/underrated series?

Which series of BBUK do you think are the most overrated and underrated?

Overrated:

BB5 - It's in my top five but still I think it's a bit overrated, it's billed as the best series ever by many and whilst it does have some stellar moments like Fight Night, the wedding task, Michelle flipping out at Ahmed and the entire bedsit week as well as being pretty consistently entertaining, the housemate line up pales in comparison to the BB6 line up IMO. Many will probably disagree but I also think the BB7 and BB10 housemates were better than many in BB5.

Underrated:

BB10 - Massively underrated IMO, BB10 is a brilliant series full of big characters and strong storylines. It had the men falling in love with Noirin, Freddie vs Lisa's group, Marcus in general, train-wrecks Sree and Angel and the amazing nutty bitch that is Bea:love: I also loved the winner. It's in my top three series, the only series I would rank above it are BB6 and BB7.

BB13 - A very good series of BB that was so much better than the ****ty BB12, full of drama and tension and didn't really get boring. Only downsides were Becky and Conor even being cast and Lydia leaving too early.

overrated: BB10. Good HMs, terrible series. Too much interference, housemates' ex/current partners thrown in desperately, and too many silly twists. Oh and half of the HMs were outright pricks.

underrated: BB4. By no means the worst series ever. Actually pretty entertaining until the final 3 weeks.

Overrated:
BB2 - I don't think people necessarily love this series here, but it isn't regarded like a bad series that it is. Literally nothing happens and there's no sense of plot or story.
BB3 - such a mediocre series, it's only held in high regard because it's seen as a classic but it's really nothing special at all. Alex, Adele, Sandy, and Tim carried the show and everyone else is either boring and irrelevant or annoying and awful.
BB9 - it was good, but not great by any means. The highs are really high but the lows (Darnell, Rex, Luke, Mohamed) are ****ing atrocious. Definitely not a bad series, but in the contest of this forum it's so overrated.
BB10 - sososo dire. It does pick up once the intruders come in and even more so after Noirin's eviction, but the first five or six weeks is simply not good. It's an exhausting and overwhelming series and I could not with Rodrigo's shrieking, Siavash's transparent martyrdom, Marcus's whining, Freddie's cringeness, etc. It really is a demonic parody of the much superior BB6, which does the whole "house full of objectively bad people" thing entertaining. Also, from a production standpoint it blows? It's almost like production forgot that this was Big Brother and left out tasks and nominations and critical parts of the show.
BB14 - definitely recency bias, but it's a completely average series with tedious storylines and pretty gross characters who aren't likable.

Underrated:
BB1 - doesn't get nearly enough credit as it deserves for being the best classic BB season. The characters are fresh and complex, there are so many moments that it doesn't feel like the first season, and it holds up amazingly well having just rewatched in January. Truly a must see season.
BB4 - yes it sucks, but it's no worse than BB2. The first month is actually like normal BB and is carried by Jon and Federico, the Africa swap and Tania provide enough moments for the fifth week, and the next two weeks are pretty essential viewing if only for the saga of Lisa Jeynes, so 7/9 isn't that bad? Still, Cameron and Steph policing fun and coming out victorious just sours it all and the last two weeks are some of the worst in BB history.
BB8 - it has its obvious flaws (the last month being run by ****ing awful people, the cruel anti-intruder mentality, etc.) but for the first eight or nine weeks it's actually really good? Plenty of great arguments, fantastic women who unfortunately almost all get evicted, and a lot of solid individual episodes such as BB's Birthday.
BB11 - yes, John James is one of the worst ever and his showmance with Josie sucked so much oxygen from the show, but it actually had a lot of raw potential and delivered well for the first month or so? Sunshine's eviction, Shabby walking, and the new intruders was a trifecta of bad events (pretty analogous to Charley's eviction, Chanelle walking, and the halfway housemates) bring the show to a halt but the first month is extremely solid. Even after that, we still have Ben, Corin, and Rachel Ifon among others so can it really be that bad?

Overrated: BB5 good series but is very overrated I did not like anyone.
BB7: another great series but died out at the final weeks.
Underrated: BB6 this series is very liked on here but outside the forum it is underated.

BB14 - it was an utter contrived mess. The amount of outside information fed into the house by BB was ridiculous and none of the housemates were that great.

Underrated

BB10 - it probably had the most diverse mix of housemates, the producers were so lazy during this series so the housemates had to carried the show, which they did well. Despite it lasting 90 odd days I don't remember it ever fizzling out like a lot of other series did.

BB13 - it seems to have been cast aside now for the new favourite BB14 despite being far superior. There was a lot more game playing in this series than there had been before, which made it interesting. The outsiders vs insiders was great. Also Deana > every housemate on C5 BB

MTVN 15-10-2013 10:37 AM

BB12 is massively underrated, great series

Gstar 15-10-2013 10:38 AM

Over rated

BB13 - It had it's moments but it was definitely annoying to watch as the house had so many ratchet messes in, the best housemates (bar Deana) went too early, the DR chair was awful, this series also gave us Becky so that pretty much sums everything up.

Under rated

BB8 I agree with troy, the first nine weeks or so was brilliant. Had this series been the same length as BB5 or BB6 it could have been one of the best of all time. Still had unlikeable housemates and Liam ruined the flawless 3rd place club which had Makosi and Aisleyne

Overrated:

BB10 - unlikeable housemates, dull drama and Marcus is the worst housemate of all time (well one of the worst)

BB14 - turned to absolute **** after Jackie's eviction, and almost no one was supporting housemates like Wolfy that were amazing (including hypocrites on this forum who go on about entertainment) so everything was annoying

Underrated:

BB8. Give me BB8 over BB10-BB14 anyday, how can you hate a series which had Charley and Chanelle?

Shaun 15-10-2013 03:48 PM

Yeah I liked BB8 too, pretty good series. I think it was the beginning of the end though with the massive media fixation with Chiggy.

BB8 & BB4 > BB11, BB12 and BB14.

Black Dagger 15-10-2013 03:52 PM

BB8 was actually really good, it only really went terrible towards the end of the series (just as Charley and Chanelle were leaving and they had the most pointless housemates ever with the Half way house or whatever it was called ****), bad winner as well.

Marsh. 15-10-2013 03:55 PM

Overrated: BB9 and 12 by a landslide.

Underrated: BB4? It wasn't that bad. Or was it?

Jordan. 15-10-2013 03:56 PM

BB8 wasn't as bad as it's made out it just didn't live up to 5, 6 & 7. There's been far worse series after it.

Jack_ 15-10-2013 04:14 PM

Underrated:

BB10 - There's no other answer to this, I accept that it's fairly popular on here for some but I mean in terms of how many people actually watched it across the country, and the criticism it does receive online, it's definitely underrated. Probably one of the best, most diverse casts ever, it was just let down by production (or rather the lack of)...thankfully the cast delivered and managed to carry the series on their own because if they hadn't it probably would have been the worst series. There were so many good housemates and so many good moments and quotes, the last few weeks were pretty piss poor but all in all it was a really enjoyable series. I also think this house design gets a lot of unfair criticism too, I accept that it obviously wasn't the most expensive house design they've ever had but I actually quite liked it? The living room and kitchen in particular (also liked the fact they were in separate rooms). I actually think on camera BB11's and possibly BB12's was worse. Also the BB10 eye > any other

Overrated:

Erm...I'm not really sure. BB9 maybe? (Don't kill me Patrick :p)

I mean I did enjoy it but I waaaay preferred BB10. I don't know, I just don't have many strong opinions on it so I guess when people regard it as a great series I just don't understand it, so I could say it's overrated that way?

Jordan. 15-10-2013 04:19 PM

The BB10 DR is underrated as well, it's better than samey neon trash they give us now

this, amazing series.

Marsh. 15-10-2013 06:04 PM

The BB10 DR was hideous. The whole house was an eyesore even more than Lisa's balding head.

reece(: 15-10-2013 06:08 PM

Overrated: BB12 (on here), BB9 (got boring after The Whisper Club left), BB14 (was carried by a few HMs, most were dull as ******), BB2/3 (not seen both but they really don't look as good as some make them out to be.
Underrated: BB8 <3 (it's actually a great series with so many loveable females:love:), BB13 (no clue why some are saying BB14 was superior... BB13 **** all over it)

Black Dagger 15-10-2013 06:25 PM

The 'whisper club' were all odious people, I mean, the majority of BB9 were odious people, it was funny seeing them get evicted after each other tbh

Although my opinions on 'entertainment' have changed over the years, I'd probably be annoyed if that happened now.

Jordan. 15-10-2013 06:32 PM

I hated the end of BB9 when it was just the 'happy house' group left and the fact they put Lisa and Sara up together so only one made the final :bored:

Eternally better than the Kumbayah dogooders who were all boring as ******.

Lisa and Sara were the only two I kept watching for and I was so happy to see them split that cash:love:

Stuart and Dale were just dull 'pretty boys', Jen's defining moment was being owned by Rex <3, I can't remember anything from Sylvia, Bex was a ******* and not even 'entertaining' she got naked and cut up somebodies belt, Luke was good for two weeks, then he ruined himself by joining up at the hip with that beast :bored:. icr who else was in the whisper club, think that is all of them.

I was the opposite, I hated BB10 and longed for it to be BB9 again

BB9 was like BB13 in that the baddies were absolutely vile and not entertaining at all
