'This Is England '90' - Starts Sunday
Shane Meadows has confirmed plans for a This Is England '90 improvisation session in January.
The The Stone Roses: Made of Stone director told Digital Spy that the project could overtake his planned biopic of cyclist Tom Simpson if the session goes well. "Tommy Simpson's a bit further ahead because there's a script in hand, but then we're going to hopefully sit down with some of the key cast in January and do a bit of a Meadows impro session," Meadows said. "That could pull it up on the outside and make it late winner to shoot for next year, so we'll see what happens." Meadows added: "It's a nice pressure to have, because miracles happen in those rehearsal sessions with those amazing actors sat in a room together. "Something might happen there, so we're keeping a really open mind and Channel 4 and FilmFour are happy for us to go whichever way. "Hopefully there'll be an official announcement reasonably soon and we'll get rolling. They're both going to get made, but it depends in which order." http://www.televisual.com/images/blo...icture%201.png The director's 2006 movie This Is England spawned TV follow-ups This Is England '86 in 2010 and This Is England '88 in 2011, but work on the 1990 catch-up was halted while Meadows made his Stone Roses documentary. He previously told DS that the series will be about the younger characters "getting into the Roses and getting into that scene and going clubbing and going raving and all of that", as well as the rehabilitation of Combo (Stephen Graham). Meadows added that he hoped the series would be a "full stop" on the characters, because he does not want to end up ruining it by pushing things too far. Graham later told us that it will be " very sad for everyone involved with the finale" when the series comes to an end. Digital Spy -crosses fingers- |
I've been waiting for this for absolute ages, it needs to air soonish.
Hopefully they end it well. |
The adverts just started airing. Great marketing. Starts September.
|
YES!
|
Finally :D
|
The ads are basically 90's dance music just saying 'this is England 90, coming soon'
|
Starts Sunday. There's a recap programme on Friday too called 83-90.
|
GOAT series, been looking forwards to it returning
|
GOAT?
Im well looking forward to this. I can't wait :D |
Greatest Of All Time ^
Can't wait for sunday!! |
Also he's said 92 could be a possibility. It depends on the success of this. :worship: think I'll watch the movie tonight.
|
On in a bit
|
Are they airing these nightly?
|
Weekly. Good opener. Bit of a slow burn but next weeks looks brilliant. Also great to see Lol so happy.
|
Might check this out. I saw the film on Friday, and I'm intrigued to see more. But I should really watch '86 and '88 first instead of jumping straight into '90 :worry:

What an episode. The flashback scenes for Kelly
|
Yeah that was hard to watch really
|
Oh god that was such a fantastic episode. The dinner scene is probably up there as the best scene they've ever done.
|
Amazing episode on Sunday. The acting was ridiculous, best part had to be Shaun finding out he was Scottish though
|
****ing incredible series, will be massively missed. Shows to go that revenge isn't all its cracked up to be.. those final words from Combo about his regret and his apologies are haunting. Everything about this series was perfect.
Woody is my hero for that high 5 with the priest |
Very emotional ending to a fantastic franchise.
I loved every moment of it. |
Awesome season, the best of the lot.
Felt like there should have been at least another episode though, the jump to the end was a lil rushed. Tbh you could easily have had a 10 episode run covering the events of this season. Still great though. Spoiler: |
That coffee shop scene was complete improv. Infact all of milky and combos scenes were improv.
All the cast are begging for another series or a movie to end it. I don't think this is the end but if it was I'll gladly take it. Loved every single minute of it. Outstanding cast, outstanding writer and what a soundtrack. |
I feel that Shane Meadows has left it open just in case he wants to do something else, which (imo) is pretty likely. Like, me and my mum were discussing it today, she felt that she wanted more closure from the final episode. But I think it was purposefully left that way because in the back of Meadow's head he knows he wants to go further with it.
I didn't like how it ended for Milky either, really. As strong & emotional those scenes with Combo were, I felt that he was a better person than that :( |
