Jason's estranged father Tony will ruffle feathers when he shows up on the cobbles in early 2014.

Roguish Tony will catch the eye of landlady Liz, but are his intentions as sincere as he'd like her to believe? And how will Eileen react to the sudden arrival of the man who has been so absent in their son's life?

Corrie Producer Stuart Blackburn said: "Tony's arrival is going to cause massive ructions for the Grimshaw's."

"He is a man who can be your best friend or your worst enemy, and with a long history of lies and betrayal, this is a guy who has an awful lot of making up to do."

Terence Maynard will play newcomer Tony. He is best known for his roles Guy Ritchie's film Revolver and BBC's Merlin.
