debit card help

if someone takes a pic of my debit card, could they use it online?

...because I left it in costa ages ago and when I went back to get it the man behind the counter had it, but anyone could have taken a pic of it and gotten the number :/

usually when you buy stuff online you need to enter the santander password as well so I dont think they can but just in case..

They'd take a pic of the back as well (if they're smart) 'cos you need a number off of there as well!

If they took pictures of both sides then yes

Brother Leon 05-12-2013 02:29 PM

Does your card have the account number on too?

If so then the security password can be reset.

Josy 05-12-2013 02:32 PM

Most sites ask for your password but I would contact the bank if I was you just to be safe.

King Gizzard 05-12-2013 02:32 PM

They'd need to know your address wouldn't they?

Me. I Am Salman 05-12-2013 02:34 PM

I wouldn't worry though I highly doubt someone would do that in somewhere like Costa where there's cameras and so many people

King Gizzard 05-12-2013 02:36 PM

yeah I don't think it'd cross their mind, especially when they're working, and if you got money taken out of your account you'd know who the culprit was so I don't think they'd even try it

Yeah, much easier to just pocket the card!!

Saph 05-12-2013 02:37 PM

I might ask for a new card just in case.. this was back in summer though and nothings happened so its unlikely that anything would now but..

armand.kay 05-12-2013 02:52 PM

Just contact your bank and tell them what happened.

Harry! 05-12-2013 06:30 PM

Contact your bank and ask to cancel your card/get a replacement. A similar thing happened to me recently. Check your account online to keep track of your finances.

A relative of mine duped me a few years ago into signing up for one of these pay day loans for him in my name, one of the things he had to do was take a photo of the card and email it to them.

I would contact your bank

Wow that's a really spiteful nasty thing to do even more so that it was a relative, I hope he got caught?

When I fully realised what he had done I went to the bank to try to reverse it, no luck. No police involvement, although there could quite easily have been, I just put it down to my own stupidy and naivety. He had the money, then continually defaulted on it and it was me they were chasing. As far as they was concerned he didn't exist. They phoned me and sent me letters for months before I just rang them and paid it all off in one go. By which time the original loan had practically doubled due to the defaults.

My father paid me back and he pretty much got off scot free.

Suffice to say, we no longer talk. :joker:

Never trust ANYONE with your bank card.

Oh okay, I read the last bit of your post wrong then lol.. still, your brother doing that, awful

MTVN 05-12-2013 07:04 PM

If it happened in the summer I wouldn't worry about it now, contacting the bank and replacing your card will be a lot of hassle
