[Six people are in custody and being
questioned by police in connection
over football spot-fixing allegations.
The National Crime Agency,
which is working closely with
the Football Association and the
Gambling Commission, confirmed
it had launched its investigation
after being contacted by
the Sun on Sunday.
As part of its investigation, the footage
that appears to show players
allegedly arranging spot-fixing.
Ex-Portsmouth defender Sam Sodje
allegedly claimed he could arrange a
yellow card booking in the Football League,
in exchange for tens of thousands of pounds.]

More Criminal fixings

Was reading about this in the Sun today, it probably is more prevalent than you'd tend to think, so easy to just get yourself a yellow card without anyone being suspicious and without really harming your team or the game

Explains Nolan's red card the other day

King Gizzard 08-12-2013 10:21 PM

you'd be a fool not to think players get booked on purpose/did certain things in matches that didn't affect the final result all the time, for friends bets and stuff, but that is almost impossible to regulate

I agreed with what they were saying on Sunday Supplement last week, they should have an amnesty so that people do actually come forward about it without fear of repercussion, and then that way you can stamp it out from that day forward

DJ Campbell has now been arrested for it. Bigger name than Sodje.

Can't believe Montano at Oldham failed to get a yellow card

Just trip somebody up you muppet or tell the ref his wife was good in bed last night.

Akko Sodje was with us for a few seasons. Doubt he did any of this while he was with us though, he spent most of his time on the treatment table.

If found guilty then they all should never ever be allowed to play the game again. If they have contracts then they should be terminated on the spot with no payout.

MTVN 09-12-2013 11:16 PM

DJ Campbell has released a statement saying that he is 100% innocent and is hoping to play in Blackburn's 1-1 draw against Millwall on Saturday

King Gizzard 09-12-2013 11:20 PM

Don't think this is the right approach to be honest. As I said, you'd get a much better outlook on it and much more detail if you had an amnesty

BBfanUSA 09-12-2013 11:25 PM

This is why Sports Gambling is illegal in the states outside of Vegas.

King Gizzard 09-12-2013 11:26 PM

Will never happen in our game, even the FA has it's official betting partner, as does nearly every league and club (eg Championship, League 1 and 2 are have Sky Bet before the name)
