Will a group ever win again?

Even with this series horrendously low calibre, and with all the pimping that the judges could pile on top of them, Rough Copy flopped out in 4th, similar to Union J the year before them.

Do you think a group can ever win again? Obviously Little Mix were the only group to pull it off, going from 80/1 rank outsiders at the start of the live shows, then surpassing early favourites like Amelia (twice), Janet, Craig, The Risk and Misha to the eventual winners, but will a group ever do it again????

i don't think so

Niamh. 09-12-2013 04:19 PM

I think so, Rough Copy weren't that good tbqh, only the skinny guy could sing and he carried the other two

Apple202 09-12-2013 04:21 PM

no but seriously Little Mix gloating aside I dont know how a group could win it, unless they were truly amazing and not just all hype with little substance, and in a relatively poor series. i think they'd have to be pretty unique too - the first girlgroup to do well definitely helped Little Mix

thinking about it I could imagine a duo winning, not sure about a boyband, think they're destined to come 3rd/4th if they're just another copy of 1D or JLS, dont know about a girlgroup cos they've only got LM to compare to and if they were obviously different then maybe

Marc 09-12-2013 04:23 PM

Yeah; I think bands are pretty popular at the moment. Any OneD type band or funky Littlemix type band would do well, maybe win.

well, they'd have to be something special, I think in all the years the groups just weren't better then the other acts, a part from Little Mix's year and they won.

Gstar 09-12-2013 04:26 PM

I don't know. They'll have to be pretty amazing to top LM

Marc 09-12-2013 04:26 PM

G4 should have won tbh

Jordan. 09-12-2013 04:28 PM

Not another girl group cause they'll always get compared to LM. A boy group or duo could though I suppose.

Marc 09-12-2013 04:31 PM

A blind and wheelchair double act pls

Mystic Mock 09-12-2013 05:23 PM

No because unless they pull the fan favourite out of the live shows for half the series again they are gonna find it hard to beat them as groups are playing catch up all the way through the lives as they won't sound brilliant in the Audition rounds due to lack of vocal coaching on how to harmonize, and if you're a boyband then not many guys will vote for them so they are doomed before they've even sung.

Shaun 09-12-2013 05:25 PM

2 Up 2 Down pls

Apple202 09-12-2013 05:25 PM

Amelia wasn't the fan favourite tho, that was Janet

Amelia beat Janet in every vote except for 1 when she came back.:joker:

And Amelia was the favourite to win in the bookies until Kelly Rowland removed her.

If they put together a proper girl group (not one full of rejects that aren't good enough) and market them R&B like Destiny's Child (not faily electro&B/Miss Dynaflop) and make you relate to them I could see them having a shot...

Janet topped the first four weeks, Amelia only managed to top week 6 because it was her comeback, and then week 8 was helped by her falling into bottom two week 7. I doubt amelia would have done as well in the votes as Janet had she been there from week one (and not had all the deramping janet had from the judges/producers)

Amelia nearly won the final despite missing half the series, if she was there all the way through she probably would've walked it.

Apple202 09-12-2013 05:46 PM

nearly won the final? she came third and like 10% below marcus and 15 behind little mix :s

it's not even true though, she was nowhere near little mix or even marcus in round 1 of the final

Considering they was in there for much longer that was very poor to not be like 25 to 30% ahead of her, especially considering she got the death slot in the final as they shut the phone lines down after the act has performed.

Janet

And no, I can't see it, the success of Little Mix and One Direction ensures it, girl-groups will be out early again and the boybands can't even come close.

Alex and Sierra will win X Factor US, but over here, their novelty would wear thin and they'd come about 7th.

Black Dagger 09-12-2013 05:51 PM

Even though, Kingsland > 1D. idec.
