2,000 members online now?

I honestly do not believe that 2,000 people are online right now participating in threads/discussions. i swear that that figure at the bottom of the page is wrong as there would be more action, debates, threads if that was correct? Am I right or have I missed something.

The page lies

Ramsay 10-12-2013 08:27 PM

only 50 members are online :suspect:
and 135 guests...

King Gizzard 10-12-2013 08:27 PM

Active members means people that have signed in recently, and over time there'll have been 2000 for regular posting members, lurkers, and spambots

fingers 10-12-2013 08:29 PM

There's 184 at present how much "over time" do we need to figure in for 2,000?

Pete. 10-12-2013 08:30 PM

Active Members: 2,006 is next to the members signed up list -- it's all a tad confusing

Pete. 10-12-2013 08:30 PM

Maybe they are just trying to seem big. There is no shame in saying there are 200 odd members online now - if anything it's good as more people might sign up and participate :)

King Gizzard 10-12-2013 08:31 PM

It's not saying or implying that there is 2000 members online now Lol

Pete. 10-12-2013 08:32 PM

so ----------- why have it

Smithy 10-12-2013 08:32 PM

Think it means 2000 members have posted in the last x months

i think they need to be more specific

MTVN 10-12-2013 08:34 PM

'Active' doesn't mean the same thing as online now..

Fortunately there is a way to check who's online right at this moment so not too hard to avoid any confusion

fingers 10-12-2013 08:35 PM

They may well be online, just not on here!

Pete. 10-12-2013 08:36 PM

i think that stat should be on the homepage or it looks like there is something to hide :~)

That's like saying "deceased doesn't really mean dead"

Half of them were the social group guy D:

Josy 10-12-2013 08:37 PM

It doesn't say there's 2000+members on right now, it says they are active members meaning they have logged in recently..

48 members and 135 guests online right now.

King Gizzard 10-12-2013 08:38 PM

90% of the guest being searchbots and spambots

Not really, being an active member always just refers to generally still logging in and posting on the site, as opposed to being an inactive member who no longer visits the forum

Ramsay 10-12-2013 08:41 PM

come on pete, this is very basic stuff

fingers 10-12-2013 08:41 PM

So "Social Guy" accounts for 50% (give or take 90%) of our active membership?
