[Furniture giant IKEA has recalled millions
of children's lamps after a 17-month-old baby
choked on the light's cord and died.
Daniel Madden, from Glasgow, became
tangled up in the power cable of the
lamp - part of the 'SMILA' series - after pulling it
into his crib in October last year.
He was taken to the city's Royal
Hospital for Sick Children, but could
not be revived by doctors.]

have been recalled by Swedish retailer

He has the moon one too.....the cords are fastened to the wall with cord clips so it says it should be ok...:eek:

Argh. I hate things like this.....now I'm worried about these lights. He has never messed with them and is old enough not to now at 3 but I'm worrying

Don't really see how it's Ikea's fault, just a tragic accident that could happen with anything

Yeah, anything that has a cord is dangerous....it's not Ikeas fault

Its their Design (hence the massive withdraw)

Says they've been selling it since 1999, that's nearly 15 years with presumably no problems till now

Yes but a childs death
changes it all.

I'm a bit surprised anything for a childs room is supplied corded, an on/off switch is safer but this was just a tragic accident.
I've just put some blinds from ikea up and there's a special hook and a huge warning label about the cord on it.

with this lamb

I had this lamp as did my sister and cousin!! Mine actually broke, the cable came off.
