Head Rush

Anybody else experienced a "head rush" when standing up?

I think its commonly associated with standing up too quickly after a long period of sitting/laying down.

However recently (say passed 4/5 days) Ive experienced them pretty much every time I stand up. I get a very fuzzy head, sounds in my ears and blurred vision, but just now it made me fall over and my body shook for 3 seconds and I wasnt in control.

I feel a bit paniced now :conf: I do currently have flu symptons so Im thinking it could be related to my sinuses?

Ammi 19-12-2013 05:06 AM

..yeah I do get it quite often when I stand up too quickly and at other times as well...but honestly Jords, I'm sure it's just because of your flu and that you're generally physically low/weak atm..but please do go to your GP, today if you can...it's just something that you should get checked out but please try not to panic because I think it's fine and just that you're not feeling well, ok......

AnnieK 19-12-2013 05:15 AM

If you have flu symptoms too, it could be an inner ear infection. They can do crazy things to your balance. As Ammi said, worth getting it checked though...

Jords 19-12-2013 05:53 AM

I just stood up to see if it would happen again and it did :/

Not so intense that I fell over but I literally couldnt see anything for 2-3 seconds.

I do wonder if its an inner ear infection, they are poudning a bit... perhaps Ill have to go.

AnnieK 19-12-2013 05:59 AM

Yeah I would try and get to docs Jords...you'll get anti biotics probably which will hopefully clear it up. You don't want to be poorly over Christmas when they are shut so try and get in today...

Jords 19-12-2013 06:00 AM

oh no not antibiotics I was sposed to be out tonight

AnnieK 19-12-2013 06:26 AM

So don't start them till tomorrow

thesheriff443 19-12-2013 06:40 AM

could be high blood pressure as well, better go to the docs, and let them have look.

Kizzy 19-12-2013 06:42 AM

You're not well enough to be out :(
Do you have to ring your docs at 8am for an app the same day?
Best get it sorted you don't want to be ill at christmas when the surgery's closed.

I immediately though it was a blood pressure too.

Just take it easy if you're going out. And the good news if it is blood pressure I believe it's fixable.

Kizzy 19-12-2013 08:07 AM

My bro had an inner ear infection once it's like vertigo, he couldn't stand up and was vomitting... very scary. Hope it's sorted soon jords.

Josy 19-12-2013 10:13 AM

Aww Jords

Definitely agree with those that have said ear infection, get to the docs.

That happens to me alot, especially if I've been in the cinema or when I get out of the car

Really? do you have high or low blood pressure? :suspect:

I can remember this happened to me, I was hoovering and bent down to pick something up went all dizzy and fell over into the wall, thought it was just one of those 'oh I bent down too fast' things but it happened a few times after that when I was standing up after sitting for a while, it ended up being an ear infection.

I haven't had my blood pressure taken in a long time but it was on the low side last time I got it done I think

Hmm you should probably get that checked out.

My doctor is quite strict like that, checks blood pressure every time you see her, not just with me I have heard Stuarts gran moaning about her checking it all the time too

I just haven't been to the Doctor in a longtime, haven't really needed to go.

Josy 19-12-2013 10:29 AM

Oh right I thought you had been but not had bp tested

fingers 19-12-2013 10:38 AM

You don't even have to see the Doctor, the Surgery nurse can do BP checks.

T* 19-12-2013 11:00 AM

Yeah I have these quite often and I get very dizzy and headachey.

Jords 19-12-2013 01:32 PM

So I phoned up a nurse and she said its quite possibly the result of a lack of oxygen to my brain because of coughing fits and my viral infection, but if it persists I should get a check-up tomorrow :spin:

...it's good that you phoned, Jords..there are loads of viruses and infections around atm and some really nasty ones, I know you'll get it checked out by your GP if it doesn't stop...maybe because you've been feeling not so good and now the dizziness/double vision etc...when you do go out tonight...just go a bit steady, yeah and just take care, ok....
