Really freaked out right now cus about 2 hours ago I was on the theatre site reading about this show...

People are trapped after part of a balcony at London's Apollo theatre apparently collapsed, according to eyewitnesses.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time was playing at the Shaftesbury Avenue venue.

London Fire Brigade tweeted: "Eight fire engines are attending an incident at a theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue in #Soho. It's believed a balcony has collapsed. More soon."

Eyewitnesses said they saw people being escorted out of the building, some bleeding and covered in debris.

Police confirmed they were called to the theatre shortly after 8.15pm.

A spokesman said: "There is a report of a collapse in the building itself. It is believed some people may have been injured in the collapse."

Martin Bostock, who was in the theatre, told Sky News: "I was in the stalls with my family in the early stages of the show.

"I think the front part of the balcony fell down. At first we thought it was part of the show, it was very dramatic.

"We got out with cuts and bruises, I think most people did."

Twitter user Charlotte Rolt posted: "At the Apollo theatre and total mayhem when the roof just came down on us! We look like we've been down the mines!"

Simon Usborne tweeted: "Jesus. Was watching curious incident at Apollo theatre when ceiling collapsed on audience ten mins ago. Chaos."

..they don't seem to have released any details yet of who the more critically injured are, I think there are seven, I hope they're ok and I also hope that none of them are children...

Awful for everyone involved.

arista 20-12-2013 07:56 AM

One Bloke said when the main
Actor on the Stage pointed and said watch out
he thought it was a special effect of the show.
Then it crashed down in bits onto everyone
under it.

I've heard about "bringing the house down", but someone took it a bit too literally.

I can relate to this story on a personal level as I was in the stand that collapsed in Earl's Court back in 1994 at the Pink Floyd Concert, many people were hurt that night also.
