Gun in your face dilema
 

While out in public a masked person points a gun at your face they are the same build as you, for a few seconds they will be distracted and the gun will not be in your face.

the dilemma is, in the few moments that they are distracted do you grab the gun and fight to gain control of them and the gun?

or do you do nothing and leave your fate in the hands of the attacker, not knowing what their motives are?

grab. If i'm going to die might as well die fighting.

I'd grab the gun. If the guy is the same build as me then he's pretty weak so a quick attempt to knock the gun out of his hands wouldn't be impossible :blush:

If his intention was to kill me hed probably have shot me straight away, so Id grapple for the gun because hes likely to panic and not want to shoot aimlessly and if I wasnt successful you still have the power to talk your way out of it.

I do nothing, don't want to piss the guy off, I'm sure if I just reasoned with him calmly everything would work out

grab without a doubt. ive had knifes pulled on me a few times my response is always the same. go for it

This is actually the correct answer though. Why anyone would fight and get into a wrestling match with someone holding a gun is beyond me. If the person wanted to kill you, he/she would just shoot you. The fact that you're alive to think about it, means as long as you don't do anything too dickish, you'll probably make it through.

I guess it's a fight or flight thing?
You can't really know which way you'll go until in that situation, I'd like to think I'd pick the safest option :laugh:

its a choice between fighting for your life, in which case you have a chance of living or dying or leaving it upto the person holding the gun if you live or die.

why do people think this person will be reasonable?, they have only had the gun in their face for a few moments.

Fighting for your life is about a lot more than just basically fighting. The fact he's pointing at you rather than immediately shooting sort of gives the impression that there's more to it. If he'd missed with a couple of shots first, then I'd fight, but forcing a gunman into a shoot or potentially lose your gun scenario is probably the worst thing you could do, because then you kick in his fight or flight response, and he's the one holding the gun at the time you make your move.

the gun is not your face when you make your move, I have made this thread and left out what his intentions are to generate thought, you have no time to reason with him. all you have is that split second when the gun is not in your face.
