Dappy's IQ meltdown was ridiculous.

He's proof that evolution can go in reverse.

It was incredibly rude to make him wear that cap, he should've told them to shove it.

Dappy is angry that he got clocked by Luisa

Seraphim 17-01-2014 10:48 PM

That wasn't an intelligence test - it was general knowledge, and it was obvious that Dappy wouldn't fare well, because he was a school refuser when he was young, and only went to college in his late teens to do GCSEs. It's probable that his parents didn't speak english at home, which would put him at a huge disadvantage academically and socially at school. He may even have had a learning difficulty such as dyslexia, which often results in children not coping terribly well at school. I thought that humiliating him by exposing the test results and making him wear a dunce cap was terribly cruel - the lowest of the low, even by BB standards.

Dappy is a very talented guy, but the kind of wounds which are received in early years never really heal, and BB know that fine well, since they have psychologists on their staff. Cheap, cruel and unnecessary.

Honestly, I almost never did my home work and quite often didn't bother to go to school at all, and somehow I still knew from the age of 8 at least, where India is located on a map. I've worked with kids with learning disabilities and/or immigrant parents who could hardly speak the language or even knew the alphabet, and let me tell you, the smart kids pick things up no matter what.

But more than the so called IQ test, the real proof of that child's stupidity is the utter nonsense that comes out of his mouth every time he speaks. He's had pop hits so he must be intelligent?! Only a complete moron would say something so utterly ridiculous.

Dappy knew where India was located on the map - he pointed to it immediately. He just lacked the confidence in his own ability to actually give the answer.

I don't know what your job is, but I sincerely hope it isn't a teaching one. I have taught children of all ages and abilities, including ones with learning disabilities and I would never undermine any one of them, or wish to see them humiliated so heartlessly now or in the future. Furthermore, if you knew where India was located on a map by the age of eight, then you must have had a lot more advantages than the average child has. I think I only held an atlas once through my entire primary education, and we only covered South America and Scotland in geography in secondary school. My mother considered books a waste of time and I wasn't allowed them at home. I'd try to sneak them into the bathroom under my clothes or read under the covers with a torch, but she always caught me. You cannot compare your own experience to that of other people.

Anway, regardless of how you perceive him, he's done better for himself than you or I have. He's very talented and has made the most of his abilities. He's probably made more money in the last few years than we'll make in the course of our lives.

That's what he signed up for. Being humiliated is part and parcel of Celebrity Big Brother.

Kizzy 18-01-2014 02:54 AM

Yes to a point it is, shock suits, fish guts and gunge... Not being branded a dunce and made to parade through the house.
I think that's a step too far.
He was also asked to walk around in a nappy and bib, nobody else has been subjected to such an embarrassing punishment for a rule break.

Well, that might be true, but when it crosses over the line into something really heartless and hurtful, it stops being funny.

BIB and that is what real intelligence is. Success comes from being persistent and consistent and learning what you need to know for the goal you aim for.

Even Lee said this in the Diary Room.

Great post and so true. Now I need to get away from the internet and pursue some of my own goals. :)

Thanks for the inspiration. :xyxwave:
