[Former England striker Stan Collymore
has said police are "banging their heads
against the wall" because Twitter are
not doing enough to stop abuse on their site.
Police are investigating a series of
death threats and racist abuse
online issued to Collymore on the social
media site after he suggested Liverpool
striker Luis Suarez cheated by diving
during last Saturday's match against Aston Villa.
Collymore retweeted some of the abuse he
has received since the match to his
503,000 followers and called on Twitter to take action.
And speaking to Sky News, he said: "I've no
problem with honestly held opinion.
If people think I'm an idiot, they're more
than welcome to say. They're also more than
welcome, within the laws of the
United Kingdom, to bring up my past.]

there is loads of racism on UK twitter, I know there'll always be trolls on the Internet but I'm speaking about normal people who say it so casually.. like "this ___ on the bus is pissing me off" etc, it's sad

He also conveniently misses out the fact he was retweeting that Liverpool fans were murderers.

That jumper he is wearing is a far worse crime

Of course there is racism on twitter, there's sexism, ageism , homophobia , religious hatred and a hundred other ism's

People who subscribe to this are pretty much anonymous so they can indulge in any bigoted viewpoint they want.

The technology must improve so people's identities are confirmed and their tweets are traceable back to them. Then you would have chance to clean up twitter and make people accountable for their tweets...!!!

Talksport should boycott Collymore aswell. He spent the entirety of Call Collymore talking over callers and other pundits.

He always managed to piss off Liverpool fans though which is always a good thing.

people should be allowed to say what ever vile and disgusting opinions they like on social networking, but when it comes to bullying, a lot more needs to be done. there's so many young kids affected by things said to them by awful people on the internet and they don't realise that these people are cowards.

Just because he gave her a backhander does not mean he cannot be pissed off at any future abuse he receives. How does that logic work?

Problem?

He gives them a platform. He retweets anything he gets when he could just report it privately. That makes the trolls want to do it more so they can get a stage. He wouldn't get half of it if he didn't basically ask for it.

Plus he's just generally a colossal prick.
