Do you add butter to bread/toast when having jam or peanut butter?

Inspired by a post in another thread
I think it's pointless, never ever do it, so unhealthy as well

RichardG 23-01-2014 10:22 PM

Yes with jam
No with peanut butter

King Gizzard 23-01-2014 10:22 PM

too lazy to ever have butter in sandwiches

Josy 23-01-2014 10:22 PM

Not butter, olive spread.

Jake. 23-01-2014 10:23 PM

tbh if you're going to put peanut butter on toast then it's really unhealthy anyway, an extra bit of butter isn't going to hurt (yes, i do)

What RichardG said

Me. I Am Salman 23-01-2014 10:23 PM

But it doesn't even enhance the taste?

Drew. 23-01-2014 10:23 PM

Butter with jam but not with peanut butter

Me. I Am Salman 23-01-2014 10:23 PM

And jam and butter do not go along, jam is sweet

Shaun 23-01-2014 10:25 PM

don't like butter on bread unless it's just toast on its own

I can't have it without, I'm a freak

Jessica. 23-01-2014 10:26 PM

No, it's disgusting to do that. I wouldn't mix butter with mayo or anything like that either.

Jezzy 23-01-2014 10:45 PM

Yes, always, with one, the other or both. Salted butter though. NomNomNomNom

Apple202 23-01-2014 10:46 PM

yes, butter is the base ingredient that makes the bread less dry (although it's fine to have it by itself) and then the jam or lemon curd adds the flavour - never have jam or lemon curd by itself

dont see the comparisons between jam and peanut butter tho

Black Dagger 23-01-2014 10:47 PM

I love peanut butter, but yes I thought it was normal to add butter as well if I was having a sandwich or toast.

Jezzy 23-01-2014 10:47 PM

My favourite sandwich ever is grated mature cheddar, damson jam, crunchy peanut butter, and full-fat mayo. On Granary crust and wholemeal. Yes pple

Natalie. 23-01-2014 10:48 PM

Butter with Jam yes, haven't had peanut buutter before

Jezzy 23-01-2014 10:48 PM

Ah ****ing hell, I am in two minds as to whether to make one now!!

Jezzy 23-01-2014 10:50 PM

To all of you haven't done it, please do it. I promise you'll like it

Jezzy 23-01-2014 10:51 PM

Ah ****. If you're a peanut butter virgin, don't add the cheese just yet.

Apple202 23-01-2014 10:53 PM

ive had peanut butter oreo brownies which was nice

Kizzy 23-01-2014 11:28 PM

I havent used butter or marg for over a year, I never have 'sweet' sarnies. I have coleslaw, philly or tomato chutney.

I guarantee that I'll never experience that butty in my lifetime.

Ammi 24-01-2014 04:55 AM

..I hardly ever eat butter at all but definitely not with jam because that's much nicer on it's own...and peanut butter is just generally awful anyway...the best sandwiches are marmalade sandwiches untapped and unspoilt by butter, just naked bread and marmalade.....

Jords 24-01-2014 05:14 AM

Butter + Jam and just Peanut Butter.

Usually however -

Toast: Butter
Toastie: Butter, Ham, Cheese, Tomato + Onion
Sandwich: Butter, Ham, Cheese, Tomato, Cucumber + Mayo

...if Im making them at home.
