C'mon Endemol/Channel 5 its time to scrap summer CBB!

Just such a waste of time and money.

Just look at the comparison in ratings.

CBB12-2.32
CBB13-2.95 which is set to rise.

CBB12 final drew a pitiful 2.59 for part 1 and 2.0 for part 2 viewers only 400,000 above the BB14 final. Why spend all that money on these celebs for a slight increase in ratings.

The whole show only averaged 2.32 whilst the civilian series averaged 1.92 again only a 400,000 lead.

Its seems pointless wasting all this money plus its just overkill and if anything puts people off BB seeing as it takes away the whole EVENT feel and gets stagnant. I hate watching the civilian BB getting all invested then after the final its totally forgotten about and some random celebs walk into the same house with only slight changes.

Scrap it.

Yeah, I agree. One of each is plenty, to steal Davinas comments, watching BB is alot of commitment and they're over doing it with 2 CBBs

Even as a fan I find it a chore to watch summer CBB when ive become invested in housemates for 10 weeks before hand.

Having to get to know a whole new bunch after a day or so break is exhausting lol.

Robodog 29-01-2014 10:55 AM

Yeah there is something in that for sure.

The last CBB (charlotte's series) was hard going in my opinion.

The main reason was it had just come after a long civilian BB and we kind of needed a break from BB for a while.

As a BB viewer you HAVE to watch every episode of civilian or celeb of course and that is a lot of commitment and is also quite tiring. So when a new CBB starts you have to watch it to - even though you need that breather from it altogether.

Plus the house in charlotte's series was pretty unchanged since dexter and co moved out - so it didn't feel 'special' for the new celeb HMs - just felt like they moved into a dirty old second hand BB house.

If they must put on 2 CBBs a year then please give us a month off after the last BB and make the house feel fresh and new.

Ideally one BB in the summer and one CBB in the winter works best i reckon.

Much as i love BB there is a side of me that is glad when it's over so i can get my evenings back !

You're right.

If they want to do a second CBB they should run it Mid March to beginning of April as January to June is a long wait. Running it off the back of the summer series is just ridiculous, lots of people are on holiday, and also you invest so much time (as Davina says) getting to know the civilian ones it seems like a chore to sit through another 3 weeks getting to know another set.

bez87 29-01-2014 11:10 AM

a bit tight on CBB just to put it in the winter time lol, but i do see your point it's so long winded, but i' quite happily watch another CBB before the main BB starts in the summer May would be a good time for it and then start BB maybe end of June i don't know lol just want to give the celebs a summer time bb lol

rionablue 29-01-2014 11:14 AM

Agreed one CBB is enough a year to be honest. Specially when the main BB is the best if Im honest.

Good point. Maybe they should continue with the three a year but space them out. It's a thought.

zakman440 29-01-2014 11:50 AM

Let's hope they do, they're still to renew the contract.

Black Dagger 29-01-2014 12:05 PM

The Summer line-up will be painful as well.

I ****ing hate Joe Swash and I'm 99% sure he'll do it.

They need to think of it in the long run and realise that there is such thing as overkill.

If they just did 1 a year like Channel 4 did it would be an event and more people would tune in as they would have been missing their BB fix.

BigBrotherfan4ever 29-01-2014 12:27 PM

I would like to see CBB summer series scrapped, & make the civillian series a couple weeks longer, I so much prefer the civillian series.

Chuck 29-01-2014 12:31 PM

They should scrap BB and have CBB twice a year. Would never happen unfortunately.

Jamesy 29-01-2014 12:32 PM

Agreed. They need to keep it strictly one CBB and one civilian series a year. Two CBBs a year is just overkill. The civilian series has never felt like it has had a deserved ending since being on C5.

JPG2502 29-01-2014 12:52 PM

Im not too sure, I wouldn't bre happy watching a 13 week run of the civilian series instead, its just too much!
And they have proven that they simply cannot sustain a series for that long, especially as the public have this habit of making sure all the entertaining and central characters are first out!

That would be ****ing awful

And yes, at the Lesley shout, Cherie

Pincho Paxton 29-01-2014 03:37 PM

They could just put the summer one on an island somewhere. It just needs to be a bit different.

Z 29-01-2014 06:26 PM

Yeah the summer one should be axed, it is overkill

Slevin 29-01-2014 06:49 PM

yea i wouldnt be bothered if they scrapped the summer CBB. the US and UK one runs about the same time for 2 months or so and US still has feeds and i barely watch other shows at that time. pretty much why i dont really come around here a lot either around that time cause i need to get to other stuff so it doesnt get piled up too much. it does feel exhausting as a viewer after a while. the AU one starts up when theres about a month or so left of the US one as well. BBUK12, BBUK13 and even BBUK14 there were times i had nearly a month to two months worth of eps piled up while i needed to catch up on other shows. happened with the last 2 AU ones and i only watched the first two eps of the last summer CBB series then had the rest and watched those in 4 days which is why i wasnt around here during that one.
