Help me!! My telly won't work?

:bawling:

when we turned it on it made a crackling noise and wouldn't come on. Have changed the fuse, but that hasn't made any difference. It isn't the socket cos other things work in there.

Any ideas?

It was a gift for my son's birthday, it's his telly and it is nearly new :(

Have you got the receipt still? If it's new it should be cover ed for atleast 12 months

..if it's nearly new then just take it back/contact the shop, Kate...

Kate! 29-01-2014 01:41 PM

no, my brother and his wife (:fist:) bought it as a gift and I don't talk to them now, long story, so no receipt. I don't know where they bought it either?

Nightmare.

Its not in a dusty area is it Kate or near new plaster? I have a similar problem with one of my tvs that is in a room where I have had work done and new plaster and every now and then I have to hoover the vents to remove dust and then it works

can you get your son to get on to them? Would be a terrible waste otherwise

nah, he doesn't want to talk to them either, we would rather do without tbh. We have a telly in the living room so it's not tragic.

no ;(

could it be the tubes? in the back?

Ammi 29-01-2014 01:46 PM

..there are some TV repair companies in your area...you could give one of them a call and ask for advice, it could be something simple that needs adjusting or something that they'll just ask you to try on your own..?..

It would be unusual for the tube to go in a new tv

If your screen stays black, then this is what I'd put money on. Had this happen a couple of times to me before.
