[A mother-of-three is believed to
have become the first woman
in Britain to die directly from
cannabis poisoning.
Gemma Moss, a 31-year-old
churchgoer, of Boscombe,
in Bournemouth, Dorset,
collapsed in bed after smoking
a cannabis cigarette that led
her to have moderate to high
levels of the class B drug
in her system.
Tests of her vital organs
found nothing wrong with
them although it was suggested
she might have suffered a cardiac
arrest triggered by cannabis toxicity.
Miss Moss' death was registered
as cannabis toxicity and a coroner
has recorded a verdict of death by cannabis abuse.]

She may have just dropped dead (as people often do) without any real reason, so they blamed the fact she had cannabis in her system. I have no idea how cannabis poisoning could even work.

Right wing spin mixed with Right wing Religious views, trying to put the mockers on Cannabis ever being made legal.

Reminds of the time when Christians claimed that Anton Lavey started screaming 'oh god no what have I done!' as his last, dying words.

Is that after he drove his Chevy to the Lavey, but the Lavey was dry?

I'm sure anyone who's ever had a serious session will have had more cannabis in her system than this girl. I bet it was a type of "grit weed" that is in circulation in some parts where they add weight by adding fibre glass and other toxic substances

It is believed mother-of-three suffered a heart attack triggered by the drug

I was just going to mention 'grit weed', that could be what killed her, either that or it triggered a heart attack. I don't understand why weed is illegal and alcohol is legal when each year 5,000 to 10,000 people die prematurely from alcohol abuse in the UK alone. This is the first person that has died from smoking weed in the UK, ever?

Ramsay 30-01-2014 05:17 PM

Her heart stopped while she was stoned, therefore her heart stopped BECAUSE she was stoned...Okaaayyy
And why do they keep making the point that was a ''devout christian'' and went to church every sunday? How is that relevant at all?
RIP to the girl and thoughts go out to her family

Kizzy 30-01-2014 05:31 PM

I doubt it was cannabis alone laced with PCP or she'd had MCAT the night before.

Livia 30-01-2014 05:46 PM

"...although it was suggested she might have suffered a cardiac arrest triggered by cannabis toxicity."

Lots of suggestions, mights and maybe in there.

I know the website will obviously be biased with a name like Toketown but it makes the point that she was on several prescription drugs

Z 30-01-2014 07:10 PM

I didn't even know it was possible to die of cannabis poisoning.

Tom4784 30-01-2014 07:12 PM

You have to smoke an unrealistic amount of weed in a short time to die from it which is pretty much impossible to do.

Benjamin 30-01-2014 07:15 PM

Cannabis poisoning? Are they taking the complete piss or what? Sad to see this lady die but if they could stop being so far-fetched with the causes.

Benjamin 30-01-2014 07:16 PM

Also she can't be that much of a devout Christian if she smokes weed on a regular basis.

Even water can kill you if you drink too much of it

People have died of water intoxication, people haven't died of marijuana poisoning because it's impossible. You'd have to smoke more than is physically possible so no, you can't die from it.

and tomorrow we move on..

Redway 30-01-2014 07:59 PM

Pity the media have had to put a sensationalist, nonsensical spin to what's a tragic story. She could've had water in her system at the time of her death (suppose she always would, but you know what I mean).

Kizzy 30-01-2014 10:44 PM

I don't feel this story has the usual mail spin on it, she was a teen mum and is single...
Her friend explained she spent £60 pw on cannabis, and yet the 'churchgoer' is vindicated due to her sleeplessness it seems.
I can't help but feel if this was a young mum from James Turner street the report might have read differently?

Nedusa 30-01-2014 10:54 PM

What utter rubbish.... She made have died from the consequences of drug taking but that drug wasn't Cannabis....

Reports suggest she had many different prescription drugs in her system so why is her death blamed on Cannabis ??

I was expecting a massive thread on Benefit Street when I came back here but was disappointed. One nobody replied to and dodgy news stories in the other

Kizzy 31-01-2014 12:10 AM

Why don't you start one?
It was touched on briefly, but most are over 'poverty porn' and see it for what it is in the main.
