Athletes that won their events today and have guaranteed their place at the World Indoors for Team GB:
Andy Vernon - 3000m Will Sharman - 60mH (Depending on whether joint winners can automatically qualify) Andy Pozzi - 60mH (Depending on whether joint winners can automatically qualify) Holly Bleasdale - Pole Vault Asha Phillip - 60m James Dasaolu - 60m Also, Katarina Johnson-Thompson broke the British Indoor High Jump record today, jumping 1.96. She's looking to go to the World Indoors for the Pentahlon but she has to be invited to do so. Some good races tomorrow, mainly finals. |
Some new champions were crowned today.
These are the athletes that are 100% going to the World Indoors in Poland because they won their finals and also possess the A Standard. Asha Phillip - 60m James Dasaolu - 60m Margaret Adeoye - 400m Nigel Levine - 400m Laura Muir - 800m Lee Emanuel - 1500m Andy Vernon - 3000m Will Sharman - 60mH Andy Pozzi - 60mH Holly Bleasdale - Pole Vault Luke Cutts - Pole Vault The GB selectors can choose up to 2 people per event at their discretion. The people above have already secured their place in the team for winning their respective events. |
The British GP in Birmingham on Saturday, looking forward to it now since I haven't seen much athletics recently, will probably catch up on the British Indoor Championships tomorrow

Lavillenie breaks Bubka's pole vault record
Full GB team confirmed for Indoors:
GB team for Sopot: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BgwJEfGCYAAKg-T.jpg:large No Dasaolu due to injury, and KJT didn't get an invite for the Pentathlon so she's just doing Long Jump instead. |
Shame about Dasaolu, his time would have been amazing on the weekend without the injury, really impressive run by Asha as well to keep in touch wit h Fraser Pryce and Ahoure, Dibaba though this year >
Lavillenie not competing at the World Indoors due to injury after breaking the World Record, so that gives Luke Cutts a good chance at a Gold medal :amazed:
Laura Muir, Luke Cutts and Holly Bleasdale seem to be our only genuine Gold medal hopes. Dwain Chambers, Tiffany Porter, Asha Philip, and the 4X400 relay squads are also good chances of contesting for a medal.

Action starts tomorrow at 9am! Startlists for Day 1 have been released

Exciting :amazed:
Terrible run by Shana Cox
Shana and Margaret are great athletes, just a shame they were drawn in the toughest heats with the toughest lanes.
Its a shame Hejnova is injured
Now for the men's 400m where hopefully we'll have better success
Levine is in Heat 3 with Santos, should be a good one

Hello Dusanova
Oh great so Levine has probably been run out of it too!
Not looking good for British sprinting so far
Come on Maslak
Nigel Levine - OUT
Oh dear.. 1 fastest loser spot from 4 of our athletes
Wait what? Levine ran quicker than that. What's Steve Cram on about?
IAAF site says Levine is through |
So he is officially through then? Or is that a mistake on the IAAF site?
