Family and Friends graves
 

Do you visit family and friends graves?

If so how often and how does it make you feel?

None of them have graves as they were all cremated.

Yes I do, relatives on my Mum's side are mostly buried and on my Dad's most are cremated.
When I am where any family member is buried I go to visit the grave and for my Grandmother's and Grandfather's I go many times during the year.

For me the feeling is a peaceful one and placing a few flowers there and reading again the headstone wording just feels right to me.

Only if it's part of a family thing, like visiting my grans grave who died last year, but my family as a whole are a lot more reasonable about death than most people.

It's not something that has to be treated with complete reverence. I understand that people want to pay their respects to loved ones, but I'll never understand the desire or need to mourn the death of random celebrities/royals.

When I as a kid and nicking off school we used to go to the graveyard and read all the headstones, out of curiosity.
I have been to the graveside at the funeral but never gone back.
You carry the memory of loved ones within you, all that is in the ground is bones.
We tend to go the cremation route this last generation, which reminds me, my dad is on the top of my wardrobe, I must move him, I don't want him in the room if any shenanigans are occurring.

I visit my mum & brothers (these 2 are the one plot), granddads and my partners sisters graves once a fortnight or on special occasions like birthdays, anniversarys, Christmas etc, I either put flowers down or clean them up.

How does it make me feel well a bit sad obviously but it's also nice and peaceful at the same time to keep their resting place neat and tidy and just have a quiet few minutes to have a think about them.

Everyone deals with death differently, there is no right or wrong way IMO.

Never really visit any graves. If my Grans grave was closer I'd probably visit a bit more. I was never really brought up to mourn in the way though, my family just seem to get on with things.

Both my grand parents were cremated and they have graves, people often bury the ashes or so I thought.

Yeah some do, one of the graves I visit was a cremation and then the ashes were buried.
