Hypothetical Avatar like scenario
 

Ignore the whole getting into the mind of a lanky blue husk and prancing about having sex with a bunch of humanoid aliens but think of the premise a minute.

My question to you is that, if we as a species were to ever end up in a situation where we came across a planet so utterly wealthy in minerals but occupied by an intelligent race of humanoid creatures do you think we as a species would be peaceful and diplomatic or callous and ruthless in exploitation? Do you think humanity by then would be a far more empathic and humane enough species to be able to open diplomatic relations and fair trade or would corporate greed and the want for money still be enough to tempt governments or corporations to commit terrible acts?

I know it's one of those if my Aunty had balls she'd be my Uncle type scenario's but the subject interests me. Please discuss.

There is no way we would be peaceful and diplomatic we would fight tooth and nails to get every available resource the other planet had.

I am another who completely agrees with this too.

We would be prepared to be callous to get it but would try and go about it sneaky and underhand I think rather than going in all guns blazing, these days I do think you need to have an ostensibly just pretext for going to war rather than being seen as purely serving own selfish interest

We would probably accuse them of torturing their own people or something

We'd probably make some attempt to relocate them, but if they resisted obviously we'd have to find a way to subdue them. I don't think we'd just annihilate them completely. We could put them on some nice reservations, find a place for them where they are out of our way.
