Friends that only call you when they want something
 

Do you have friends that only call you when they want something?
They are only interested in them selves and what's good for them.

I do have people that call me only when they have something to say about themselves or when they have a problem.
They never ask how others are, just go on about themselves.

They are getting fewer and fewer now as I politely quickly end their calls or don't get back to them at all now.

Yep, now my "best friend" has got herself a boyfriend I never hear from her unless she's telling me what they've done at the weekend :hmph:

i know we learn over time what these friends are like, do you think its because we are too polite, helpful or they are just selfish?

to be fair the relationship thing is bound to cause a disruption, more so if its their first relationship.

...hmmmm, possibly..but I don't really see that as a bad thing, a big part of a friendship is feeling that you can confide in a friend any worries and doing what you can to help when a friend does that...maybe if it wasn't a two way thing, I would have to question the friendship...

..I think in general, people are often absorbed in their own lives anyway...life ain't easy as they say..and sometimes you can go a long time without touching base with a friend but then maybe something happens in their life and they want to talk to you about it or ask for your help or something..?..I would just be pleased that they felt they were able to do that and see it that we had a good friendship....

Yes but I don't place my faith in those friends, I know that they are fairweather friends who wouldn't help you out if you needed them to because they wouldn't even know there's a problem in the first place. That's okay. Some friends are good for some things and not so good for others. Those are the kinds of friends I would go on nights out with or go to the cinema with; stuff you can do that doesn't require them to change who they are in order for you to enjoy being around them.

Not really, at this stage I just don't waste my time on people like that, life is too short to spend on people who only want to take

Yep some girl kept asking me for money so I lent her twenty, but found out she borrowed money from others as well. Then she kept calling and texting me badly saying her parents had kicked her out and she needed cash. I just ignored her, last time I heard she was living on the streets.

They are not real friends ,real friends have your back even when you are right or wrong ,they support you and defend you ,they are not 2 faced ,A true friend is hard to find, but when you find one treasure them as they are a rarity,I can suss a fake friend from a mile away ,thats when I back off and leave them to it

Very true Chuff. People who are in a friendship for themselves are second only to turncoat friends.

The type I can well live without young Kyle ,my thinking is you cannot be a true friend if you only want folk when YOUR back is to the wall, but turn a blind eye when its the other way around ,I have a inbuilt radar for these types and soon see the real them, then I walk away ,As a Scorpio I make the best friend, but the worst enemy

Not a friend but I do only contact my dad, Mr *I have 3 BMW's and a 5 bedroom house with 3 gardens, if im in dire need but wont contact him for anything else. Don't usually get it anyway the stingy old bastard lol.

Regarding friends I have about 3 who used to always call to vent their problems like 3 or 4 times a week, sometimes at 4am and there's only so many times you can repeat yourself or compliment them to make them feel better it get's to much so yeah they are on the ignore list.

I have no doubt you are Chuff. You might rub some people up the wrong way with your frank and honest opinions but your definitely the type of person you would want beside you in the trenches when the sh*t hits the fan.

The thing with me Kyle is Im 100% honest ,and some folk cannot handle that ,its them who need to look in a mirror and take a tight grip of themselves, I dont do fake and Im not on here to be Miss Popularity ,Ive got a secure ,very happy marriage, I have a truly special family, my life is in my home, not on a forum ,this is how EVERYONE should treat places like this

It's all good and well saying '**** people like that, who needs them' - but they need someone to talk to too. Maybe they're not very good at listening but I think the best thing you can do for someone is be there for them emotionally when they need it (though not to the point where they're abusing your willingness to listen) - you have other friends to listen to you if you need it so I don't really see the problem in listening to people who just like to talk all the time.

:joker: I don't know. I would say they are selfish and the other thing is they are so thick skinned too they fail to pick up on the annoyance felt as to their attitudes and alway going on about themselves.

I try to keep polite and maybe that is why some have continued,I am getting more detached and determined not to waste my time with them so I think I am coming across more forceful now.
