Girlicious

i used to be OBSESSED with this band!

Anyone remember them?

Girlicious was an American girl group originally formed by the creator of the Pussycat Dolls, Robin Antin. Robin created the CW reality TV show Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious where 15 women aged 18 to 25 competed for 3 slots to be in the band!

After 8 episodes 4 girls were finally chosen. Tiffanie Anderson, Natalie Mejia, Chrystina Sayers & Nichole Cordova were chosen to be Girlicious!

[after Tiffanie left]

No ta.

GiRTh 18-02-2014 02:22 PM

I remember them cuz of the awful 'search for the next Pussycat doll' TV show that created them. Funny that the girl who won refused to join the band saying she wanted to go solo and there was nothing in the contract that forced her to join :joker: I bet the shows lawyer worked overtime to fix that one.

I wonder what happened to all the contestants.

oh yeah that skank Asia! ugh, i disliked her from day 1! That show was so stupid, it was obvious she used that show to become a solo star, which failed.

GiRTh 18-02-2014 02:38 PM

I didnt even know she performed with the band. I kind of lost interest when my fave was eliminated. It was not the most gripping reality TV show I've ever seen.

And I have to say as always when I post about PCD - Marry me Ashley.

They had some party tunes. They weren't built to last really.

I agree tbh, they were not built to last. I think Robin saw a gap in the market to make some more money after the success of PCD. She really played on the fact that sex sells, which i thought was a key part of their success!

Z 18-02-2014 07:25 PM

Did they even have much success though? She didn't so much see a gap in the market as such, she clearly just saw that PCD were not going to survive with all that internal tension so she was looking to create a spin off to milk the burlesque girl group thing for all it was worth. Girlicious was never going to last but it could have been handled better if they'd had better management.

Gstar 18-02-2014 08:31 PM

Girlicious  btw the real reason why the black girl was kicked out was because she was black. She even made a youtube video about it so I stopped listening to their music

I agree that they were not as successful as robin wanted but i still think she saw a slight gap in the market hence making that show. She did see that PCD were not going to survive hence creating a show to find a new doll to shake the line up up, which happened before the search for Girlicious. Finding a new doll (Skanky Asia) failed so she made Girlicious. Robin was all about cashing in on the girls for their looks, she picked 'the ones that look best together' she casted the best looking girls, if they had a little talent they were still in.

Diddy cared more about the sound. Robin cared more about the image. Hence why DK had more success

I think they were successful in Canada

I disagree about Diddy/DK; he cared a lot about their image and not really about their music at all but he definitely had more of a vision for them than Robin Antin had for Girlicious; he picked genuinely talented singers for DK but they had to be great dancers too... and when Aubrey started doing things to her appearance that he didn't like, he dismantled the entire group in one big strop and ruined everything he'd built up for the sake of his reality show. The whole thing was a farce. I'm glad they've reformed without him being involved and without D.Woods being involved.

Thats fair argument.
Diddy totally cared about image too! All i'm getting at is Robin didn't care that much about the voices of the girls to the extent Diddy did with his girls. She wanted a group of hot girls that were semi talented but jelled together well too. Diddy wanted the best singers and often eliminated girls if they were strong enough vocally. Robin often got rid of girls that didn't look the part.

i don't think words can express how p***ed off i was when he *******ed up DK :fist:
