Kevin Grow, student with Down syndrome, signs with Philadelphia 76ers thanks to viral video

They were the shots seen around the world.

Pennsylvania high school senior Kevin Grow, who has Down syndrome, stunned the social sphere earlier this month when the 18-year-old made four three-point shots in under two minutes in his last basketball game of the season.

A YouTube video of his three-pointers, posted by the Bensalem Police Department in his hometown, went viral, drawing more than 650,000 views to date. (View the video below.)

And the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers were among the many who took notice.

“It’s a grounding effect when you see something like that,” 76ers head coach Brett Brown said of Grow’s video, according to NBA.com.

This morning, the team tweeted from its official account (@Sixers) that they’d offered Grow a ceremonial two-day contract, and got a warm response from Twitter in return. The tweet, showing Grow’s signed contract and his photo with Brown, got nearly 2,000 retweets and more than 1,300 favorites.

By far, Kevin's favorite team is the Sixers, and he was so excited just to be able to come down here and see practice," his sister Laura told NBA.com. "But to be a part of the team, and when we got downstairs to see all the media there, it was even more of a surprise. This whole thing's just taken a mind of its own, and it's just such a neat experience."

Since then, the 76ers have tweeted photos and video of Grow practicing with the team. Tonight, he’ll take the court in a customized jersey alongside the Sixers for a special presentation before they face off against the Cleveland Cavaliers at 7 p.m. ET.

I'm gonna mimic all the anti-gay people now..

why are they making such a big deal out of this? no one cares if he's down syndrome. i'm normal intelligence, i don't go around making a big deal out of it . it's clear there's an agenda to make us accept their kind as normal, but they keep throwing it in our faces! BLAAAAAGHHHH.
