with the "department for communities" i will mount
its worse then the lies on immigration.

the rich have most of the properties hence "extortionate rent".

( the current number or percentage on homelessness is 37% but with any government statistic i don't believe it for a second. yes immigration is not helping the matter with 1 - 4 coming from outside the uk but as i point out there has been no housing estates built since the 1980's which leads me to think this is pre-planned so the rich with property's can charge extortionate rent and rake it in.
i am going to try and get this to homeless charity's. i will also be sending it to the government who i am sure will read and act on all the points. (funny)

most homeless people have opportunities, they choose not to take them. psychological illness and addiction are usually the main problems in the homeless community, so unless you are willing to lock them up in mental institutions and rehab centers, there's not much you can do. They tried that in the old days, locking people up in institutions and forcing them to get treatment, but it didn't work, it was horrible. We shouldn't go backwards.

It would be nice if the media, not just the Mirror brought to attention the homeless of the UK.
It would make a change from their fanciful and pure invention as to some stories they print.

I was reading lately that there are more than enough empty, unwanted properties (i.e. sitting forgotten for several years, not just currently unoccupied) in Europe to provide a bedroom for every single homeless person in the entire continent. That's quite sickening, if you think about it. There's no need for anyone to not at least have a roof over their head on a rainy night - and yet, people sleep under bridges. It's completely and utterly bonkers.

No, not under the Conservatives or even with the Lib Dems in coalition with them either.

This is the most ruthless and heartless Govt this Country has likely had since the war.
In my opinion,Labour wasn't really much better on this before but I do expect them to be better under Ed Miliband and a more compassionate cabinet of Ministers next time.

disagree joeysteele - under labor and tony blair - we had top class compassion and the country was well in shape and booming - then come along iraqi followed by a bust that the conservative are blaming labor for - disagree again - we lived with in our mean and what brang labour down was 10p tax row bring in the brown - unforgivable. to punish them we put in the tories - are they for the less well off - think again. the rich get richer and the poor suffer more.

last point - can ed change labor - he needs some radical polices that hit you in the face - but i doubt he will find them.

i think that is why people are heading for the mas-sarge - i mean farage (nigel) as at least he is saying what he is going to change. you have to respect that.

I really hope Ed gets in, he may not be as charismatic as some but showmanship shouldn't be so high on the list of attributes when it comes to a PM.

I've been reading a lot of what he has to say written down lately and have come to the conclusion that he actually makes a lot of sense. It's strong, has a clear direction, and he states it with conviction. I'm not entirely convinced about the economic viability of everything he says but it does sound like he GENUINELY has a sense of fair play in his ideologies, which is a far cry from what we currently have under the Tories (people are not people, they are statistics, and if they're not net contributors they might as well die). So that's enough for me (for now). It may not be possible to do everything he says he would like to do, but if that attitude is "right" and "fair" at the base level, that in itself has a huge knock on effect.

But, people are quick to dismiss him because let's face it... he DOES look like Claymation. I think that says more about the public's (en masse) obsession with appearances, though... what he has to say goes from a boom to a whimper because of his appearance. It shouldn't matter at all - but when it comes to engaging with the sheeple (and unfortunately, there are more sheeple than there are free-thinkers in the world, and so sheeple votes count for everything) it seems to be almost vital. It's very unfortunate.

If he looked like a Hollywood actor, and could flash a ****-eating grin for the camera, I think his popularity would be massive.
