The huge hair trends for 2014
From Cosmopolitan
High shine The look: This is killer shine, almost wet but glossy not greasy. From gelled sides to slicked-back roots this flat-to-the-head look works well when it leads into a sleek low ponytail or with loose lengths revealing a contrasting matte texture. http://www.cosmopolitan.co.uk/cm/cos...-shine-lgn.jpg Messy plaits The look: Plaits are the tress trend that keeps on coming and we’re not complaining. This season they’re either glossy or matte, but always messy. Handy for those of us who aren’t perfectionists! http://www.cosmopolitan.co.uk/cm/cos...plaits-lgn.jpg Sporty The look: Victoria Beckham has proved you don’t have to wear trainers to nail the sports luxe look. From stretchy headbands at her show, to blinging visors at Marni, the trend for workout wear as hair accessories was much more chic than eek. We love it when fashion is practical as well as pretty. http://www.cosmopolitan.co.uk/cm/cos...sporty-lgn.jpg Extreme side partings The look: Androgyny is having a moment but the trend for the 1930s-inspired boyish comb-over actually oozes confidence and can look super-sexy. http://www.cosmopolitan.co.uk/cm/cos...rtings-lgn.jpg True romance The look: If you’re looking for wedding and party hair inspiration call off the search. The trend for ethereal, dreamy up-dos are IN. Take a laidback approach to it for effortless romance. http://www.cosmopolitan.co.uk/cm/cos...mantic-lgn.jpg Slept-in texture The look: Lived-in locks are huge for Spring/Summer ’14. At Topshop Unique they were rougher than beachy waves, while at Balmain they were soft and sleepy. The key is making this look undone, but well done. http://www.cosmopolitan.co.uk/cm/cos...ept-in-lgn.jpg Retro curls The look: The 70s are major for Spring/Summer and the way to tackle the trend is with retro curls. The look has a modern twist with low side partings (did we mention they were a trend?) and they’re completely frizz-free. http://www.cosmopolitan.co.uk/cm/cos...-curls-lgn.jpg Mermaid waves The look: Glossy, nautical waves are the new look for beachy blondes this year. Both clean and wet-look textures work and a centre-parting look current. http://www.cosmopolitan.co.uk/cm/cos...-waves-lgn.jpg Edgy bobs The look: Bobs have been brewing for multiple seasons but for 2014 they’re edgy. Short fringes and striking colours make up the trend’s DNA. One for the beauty brave. http://www.cosmopolitan.co.uk/cm/cos...4-bobs-lgn.jpg Oh and big accessories are in too http://www.cosmopolitan.co.uk/cm/cos...sories-lgn.jpg |
I love the retro curls, messy plaits, mermaid waves and slept in ones.
Don't like the big accessories or the high shine (looks like greasy unwashed hair to me) |

Really love the messy plaits. Growing my hair again, it's only just long enough to scrape into a bobble ATM but it usually grows fast. Been using coconut products on it Josy. It's in better condition now.
