Cheryl from Girls Aloud arrested for Assault

According to this ANANOVA ARTICLE Cheryl Tweedy has been arrested punching a girl in a nightclub in Guildford.

I know she can't hold a tune, but it looks as though she can't hold her drink either

Tut deardy, deardy, girls these days. What are they like. I've been on dance floors in clubs and had to pull girls apart before now, before they kill each other, it used to be the blokes. What's going on.:conf: Don't like this ladette culture myself.:conf:

Cheryl should have been arrested after her performance on Top of the Pops for crimes against music.

(Sorry).

I've just seen a bit on the news about this. Apparently her record company are saying that she acted in self-defence.

Hmm.

Kaz 12-01-2003 10:03 AM

Well, THIS ARTICLE from the News of the World certainly makes it out to be self-defence:

Quote:

The onlooker added: "It was completely unprovoked. Cheryl was just minding her own business when this attendant let rip at her for no reason.

"She hit Cheryl and Cheryl hit her back. Before you knew it, people were pulling them apart.
There's our trusted friend 'an onlooker' again! Who ARE they?

Smacks a bit of 'damage limitation' to me . . . . :conf:

However, THIS ARTICLE from the People Online goes into quite a lot of detail about the bust-up, and also names a couple of the witnesses.

Which one do you believe (if any!!)? :spin2:

I don't know which of these girls is which, but if it is the one who 'sang' on TOTP last week, no apols necessary James! I was appalled, it was truly awful.

Actually, come to think of it, if it was ANY of them - spot on mate.

There's a follow-up article on this story in today's Sun Online - CLICK HERE to read it.

Seems concerns are being expressed about Cheryl's future in the band (singing ability excepted!!).

It must have been one almighty punch - that poor woman's eye looks very sore!

BusyBee 13-01-2003 05:26 PM

According to something I read she was with Nicola (the redhead in the band) and they had drunk an awful lot of champagne. As far as I remember Nicola is under 18, so a little bit of under age drinking going on there :nono::nono::hugesmile::hugesmile:

Hope a little bit of fame isnt going to their heads - After all look what happened to Hearsay.:shocked:

Must have been the fiery Red Head winding her up.:shocked::joker:

Remember this story from a couple of months back? Well, it appears from this story from Ananova that Cheryl Tweedy has now been formally charged with assault:

Quote:

A member of pop group Girls Aloud has been charged with racially aggravated assault after an incident in a nightclub.

A spokeswoman at Staines police station said: "A 19-year-old woman has been charged with an offence of racially aggravated actual bodily harm following an incident at a Guildford nightclub on January 11.

"Cheryl Tweedy of Newcastle was charged with the offences when she returned to Staines today on bail. She has been on police bail following the incident in the early hours of January 11 at The Drink nightclub."

Tweedy has been released on bail to appear before South West Surrey Magistrates Court in Guildford on March 25.

In a statement Tweedy said: "I am totally devastated by the charge that has been brought against me. I have always maintained that I am entirely innocent of the accusations that have been made, and I am determined to fight to prove my innocence."
I know she's protesting her innocence, but they must be pretty sure of their facts before a formal charge has been made, don't you think?

WILDCHILD 14-03-2003 04:40 PM

She could well be in trouble if they press charges and it is not going to do any good to her music career.:nono:

steve_o 14-03-2003 10:34 PM

What music career:thumbs:Oh no that's mean, was she one of the girls from bannanarama.:joker:

:spin:
