Does getting older bother you....

..just following on from Shaun's thread in the music section really...are you bothered about the thought of getting older/do birthdays depress you etc..?...

AnnieK 09-03-2014 06:28 AM

It bothers me a little, just because time goes so quickly. Not a lot you can do other than go with it but it feels like only yesterday I was 18 and now I'm *cough* 21 it's a little sad

A little bit yes, especially since I seemed to have lost a year, which was no fault of my own, When I was 45 my bloke told someone I was the same age as them 46 I just assumed I was 46 (my birthday is in January) so in the oct my mother died and a few weeks later I was thinking to myself god 46 is young to have lost both parents etc, then I suddenly remembered I was 45!!!!! It was only 2 months till my 46th birthday and now im already 47 but I think im about 22. I look @ people and think god they look old and their the same age as me lol

Sure, its terrifying

joeysteele 09-03-2014 08:47 AM

I found it really strange,( and I didn't think I would), when I left teens behind and became 20.
I kind of wanted to be a teenager for longer I guess.

Now at 22, I am not bothered at all, to me age is just a number for anyone anyway and it is something I am not likely to dwell on now or in the future I would say.

Apple202 09-03-2014 08:51 AM

yup

smudgie 09-03-2014 09:06 AM

Not at all.

Hubby and I have never had as much freedom to do what we want.

We have more or less the same group of friends that we have had for over 30 years, all growing old disgracefully together.

Kate! 09-03-2014 10:05 AM

Yes, cos in my head I'm (like Mizzy) still 22. I get on with younger people, that's reflected in a lot of my friendships on here, do get on with people of my age/older that tend to be young at heart too, still a bit giddy. I hate having to say how old I am

I like being my age , but don't relish getting older,if I had a choice I'de be 30 forever, lol,I still feel and act like I did when I was 20 but have hopefully matured enough not to be so impatient and intolerant , I hate the fact sometimes you have to think about the clothes you wear whereas before I could wear anything,I like being settled and secure with a family, but also loved those carefree days when I could be daft and no one cared.

Kizzy 09-03-2014 10:24 AM

I hated and despised my 30s, but now I'm in my 40s somehow it's different.. I feel more at peace with it and with the pressure of parenting off can focus on myself more.

Yes Kizzy there is the bonus when your older of not having to run round after toddlers, but mom has also warned me they get worse as they get older:hugesmile:

Kyle 09-03-2014 10:35 AM

I don't like being 25. I'm too old to get away with doing stupid things and too young to use old age as an excuse for doing stupid things.

It's like limbo.

thesheriff443 09-03-2014 10:36 AM

when you get older you start talking about slapping other peoples teenagers instead of your own.

Nope doesn't bother me at all.. There's absolutely nothing anyone can do about it, do why worry? I still feel like a young thing and that's all that matters.
I have a friend who is terrified of turning 40.. She's almost obsessed with staying young.

Z 09-03-2014 11:06 AM

Not really, I'm enjoying being an adult and am looking forward to the next 'stages' of life... having a full time job, saving up for a deposit on a flat, having my own place, getting a pet... got it all worked out in my head  I'm happy with who I am as a person and I'm quietly confident that I'll get to where I want to be in good time. Age doesn't really bother me at the moment.

Crimson Dynamo 09-03-2014 11:41 AM

My father has alzheimers and as such as your parents get old, ill and die the whole ageing thing takes on a new light. Children on the other hand both keep you young and make you think about your life and age in general.

True, when you see the once fit and strong people in your live start to weaken you start to re-evaluate. It's just part of maturing as a person I guess but it's hard.
