Any Answers to weird questions ????

ok so BB is over for another summer and as I was sitting outside my brothers garden tonight having a fag I had nothing else to think of but;

If moths like to fly towards lights etc,how come they never fly towards a clear full moon?

Then I thought

If they love light so much why don't they just come out in the day time??

Any one else got any weird questions or even an answer to the above??

J.C. 21-08-2006 11:39 PM

Or is it heat more than light that a moth likesThat could explain why they don`t all head off moonwards...

I would like to know why, if we are moving as galaxy through space, we can not photograph ourselves as our galaxy was light years ago.we can with other galaxies and we are told that we are moving Within the universe??
We should be visible shouln`t we.??

stoney12 22-08-2006 12:28 AM

Might be heat for the moths. In which case why do they not come out when the weather is really hot??

as to your question would it just be that we have not yet sent any craft outside of our galaxy in order to photograph it??

J.C. 22-08-2006 12:12 PM

Yeah, I nearly put before that it would also assume that the moths maybe preferred it in the shade!

These space photos are weird tho. We can see a picture of a galaxy which
may not now even exist!! or certainly be nothing like the way we see it.

Yep its like time travel. The light we see from stars can also be thousands of years old.Mind blowing.

Do turtles have ears?? :conf:

Pipergun 23-08-2006 12:29 AM

This is going to sound very depressing, but since only us loons are up at this hour, I looked it up!

(Quoted from http://www.turtlepuddle.org/kidspage/questions.html)

Turtles don't have any "outer ear," the part that sticks out from your head, but they have all the "inner ear" mechanisms that other animals do. They also have the auditory nerve and brain center required for hearing. The outer ear gathers sound vibrations to make them louder. So turtles do not hear airborne sounds as loudly as you do, but they can sense and interpret vibrations in the environment. Hearing probably isn't very important to a turtle though, because their senses of vision and smell are excellent. The brain center for hearing is quite small by comparison.

So, all in all, yes!

Lauren 23-08-2006 12:32 AM

Lmao!! Thanks Pipergun

EDIT: By the way, I AM joking before anyone starts

Pipergun 23-08-2006 12:43 AM

Does seem a bit off really, doesn't it! I could lie and say it's because we're a superior species, but that's in our dreams!!

Is it cause with every person they sleep with, women run the risk of becoming pregnant, whereas men don't?? :conf:
