hope my dentist dies tonight

soz I need to vent

went to my appointment today and the brace was broken in three places :/ and as I've broken it about 10+ times in the three & 1/2 years I've worn them my dentist decided enough was enough and the next appointment I go they're going to be taken off permanently

teeth are straight and stuff as I was coming to the end of my treatment, just needed the braces to align them so there was a perfect fit when both rows of teeth touch. but now they're being taken off early and I can't ****ing bite properly, just the front four sets of teeth close together and there's a tiny gap between the others, they don't meet

it's not really visually noticeable so it's not an aesthetic issue, and I can still eat and chew food properly. it just doesn't feel right though, not having my back teeth touch :/ and I can't do a closed smile without my teeth showing so have to do it kinda forcefully. I know it's my own fault really but I didn't know the severity of breaking them, and seriously it's just a few months of my treatment left why didn't they just give me one more chance

we had a similar experience with one of our sons, his teeth actually looked better before the treatment, he didn't break his retainer, but they kept saying another 8 weeks etc and given this has gone on for 3 years, I asked in April when would he be actually getting fitted with braces, so this bolshy ortodontist say definately September, anyway we went in September and he started tutting and stuff ( I swear this is a money making scam), and said another 8 weeks, anyway I went nuts, threw the retainer at him, put in a formal complaint and got a really wishy washy reply back, best thing we have ever done. A complete waste of 3 years.

If he dies you're going to feel guilty

They are fine, they hurt for a few days after he lost the retainer, he has a dental appointment next week so going to ask for an assessment then, at the rate he was going he would have been going into braces at 18 having started the treatment at 13, I still maintain it is a scam as for each appt they get paid.

I hate dentists.

Can't your parents put a complaint in, they should really see the treatment through. It seems ridiculous that they won't???

I think they have a legal right to stop the treatment whenever they want :/ and I've broken it so many times so I don't know

I haven't really explained it to my parents I just said it was a small bother and it'll be fine

Vanessa 21-03-2014 07:27 PM

My dentist just gives me lectures. :bored:

Marsh. 21-03-2014 07:30 PM

I think it'll feel better after time.

When I had a crown fitted I kept telling the dentist it was too big for my mouth, it made my bite different and I didn't want it. He said it's bound to feel that way but to give it time to "settle in". After a week or so my mouth felt as normal again.

Just give your mouth a while to adjust to the change.

Me. I Am Salman 21-03-2014 07:40 PM

how was it different?
PS thanks for the advice and stuff every1

Cherie 21-03-2014 07:42 PM

could you not have paid for the new retainer?

Me. I Am Salman 21-03-2014 07:48 PM

I think they're giving me retainers
but I don't think that'll fix my bite

oh you were in fixed braces? the retainer can be used to move teeth, (you get a little screw thing to tighten it)they will finish off the problem with the bite with the retainer, as it would be a big issue to make new fixed braces for just a few months?

hmm will they? if so then wouldn't they have taken off my braces earlier (it was only still there to fix the bite)

most people who have a fixed brace end up with a retainer. With yours they may use one that tightens so it finishes off the job, if I were you I would be inclined to go back with an adult (someone over 21 ) someone who will fight your corner kind of thing. You shouldn't have to go through years of this and then not have the job finished off properly.

thanks Cherie I'll take your advice
they better be ready to fight my dad

My top and bottom teeth no longer met perfectly. Nobody could tell looking at them but it felt as though they were lop sided, touching on one side but not on the other. But several days after, it was like my mouth relaxed and all my teeth settled.

lostalex 23-03-2014 12:41 AM

i need to go to the dentist. i chipped a tooth a few months ago in the back bottom inside left corner, and i've been getting a lot of complaints about it lately. apparently it's really sharp.

Cherie 23-03-2014 09:00 AM
