All in the title!

hhhmm I don't know, I think what they did with Codeine over here was enough, basically it's kept off the shelf and you have to ask for it and then get a quiz and a lecture from the pharmacist before they will sell it to you

nurofen plus is the main one, codeine is addictive and the ibuprofen does the damage.

codeine is derived from opium, the body gets used to it and you get withdrawls.

it starts out as treatment for pain, say tooth ache or an injury, use it for longer than three days and your body wants more.

jesus h you must have a very lightweight system to get addicted non prescription painkillers. I can guzzle 800mg of Ibupes after a big night and i cant feel anything I just hope they do something

You get more of a buzz from a can of 4% lager

these tablets are not taken by people looking for a buzz!, normal people who take the tablets to treat pain and then find them self addicted.

I dont see a problem with solpadeine tbh...theres a REALLY small amount of codeine in them so you would have to take like 10 tablets or something regularly to get addicted..and the 5000mg of paracetamol that would be included in 10 solpadeine tablets would probably hospitalise you so you are extremely unlikely to ever become addicted to codeine via those..

Vicky. 25-03-2014 04:09 PM

Also I feel there needs to be SOME strong painkillers available from chemists, given that (at our doctors at least) it can sometimes take 2 weeks for an appointment.

Marsh. 25-03-2014 04:09 PM

Codeine is in the paramol tablets I was taking for toothache. I can definitely see why it would be addictive.

Crimson Dynamo 25-03-2014 04:22 PM

I can see how coke is addictive

now that is one vile drug

Yeah, the bloody waiting lists for operations are getting longer too. Give us the instructions to do it ourselves.

Painkillers are miles away from operations though

I dont have to worry about this anyway, but I am thinking of others.... My mothers medicine cupboard is like a ready stocked pharmacy :joker: She gave me some solpadol (persciption version of solpadeine I think) when my codeine ran out as I had a week to wait for an appointment and I literally cant sleep with my rib pain..and stupid me figured there would be the same amount of codeine in as in my normal tablets, so popped 3 (30mg each..or should have been) only to find out half an hour later when I felt very floaty and weird that solpadol actually have 60mg codeine in each one..
