The other way around.
My late mother-in-law, who was very much a lady, was sat at the railway station when she was propositioned.
I would not care but she was getting on in years and it was a young man that was doing the asking.

When I was younger I was in Manchester with my mum and we were going to catch a coach somewhere from the Chorlton Street station which I had heard my mum and dad talking about as an area where there were many prostitutes. Its also quite near to a really nice Hotel and we walked passed a lady outside the hotel dressed to kill for a night out, probably the same age as my mum, and I asked my mum, very loudly if that lady their was a hooker? The lady looked horrified and my mum distraught....

My dad also got pulled for kerb crawling in Manchester - he was very early to pick my mum up from a night out and there was nowhere to park so he kept driving round the block very slowly....the police stopped him to question him to see if he was on the prowl for a lady of the night but luckily my mum arrived on the scene - they all had a laugh and my dad has never been early since

I have been a few times but obviously always said no. They were high on crack and heroin. I used to volunteer at a soup kitchen and saw a prostitute get punched well in the face by a grown man well over 10 times. We called her an ambulance and she was okay thankfully. Don't really get why people make jokes about these women really, they have horrible lives through addiction

Good post... I think it's a terribly sad thing for a woman to do. It's not all 'Belle de Jour"... it's a horrible, seedy life for the most part. And like you say, addition plays a massive part.

Oddly enough, gavs dads current partner (of ~8 years) is an ex 'escort' too. She claims she was a high class escort, however she was doing it to see herself through her heroin addiction and I have seen photos from back then and I dont see how she could ever be classed as 'high class' tbh.

Meeting her totally changed my opinion on smack addicts though I have to say. When I was younger I was of the opinion that you never got off the stuff and were basically scum for life (that opinion came from my little brother nearly stabbing himself on a dirty needle left in a childrens park...hated smackheads from that day on). But she was fighting for years, and only a few months ago came totally off the methadone and got herself a job and has stuck to it too.

Well I have never really questioned her on it as its an awkward topic, but I *think* it just means you get paid more as you get the richer clients who want something a bit more classy than a typical druggie turning up for them...
