The British Public Still Think Ed Miliband Is Weird

http://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/2014...5422339-16.jpg

[Ever since becoming Labour leader Ed Miliband has been dogged
by the perception that he is quite strange.
And with just over a year to go until the general election the
Conservatives are preparing to focus their attacks on
Miliband himself, asking the public whether they really
want this man as their Prime Minister.
To see whether these attacks are likely to be a success BuzzFeed
asked polling company YouGov to investigate how the public
perceives the Labour leader. And it’s not all good news for Miliband.]

No one wants him as PM

He sounds strange, he looks strange and he shafted his own brother to get his job. And he is definitely strange when you meet him in the flesh. Ed Balls isn't my favourite person in the world, but at least he's not weird like Miliband.

People prefer good looking tall people for leaders or strong angry women.

Just the way life is.

I can't think of anyone in Parliament who's is good looking. Politics has been described as "show business for ugly people" and I tend to agree.

There's nothing wrong with being ugly. Miliband abuses the privilege though.

How shallow, I prefer people to be appreciated for their ability not their aesthetic qualities.
Churchill was no looker was he? It's bad enough this mentality exists in the music and film industry for gods sake now we choose our politicians based on what they look/sound like.... sad.

Don't give a sh*t if he's 'weird' so long as he does his job. I'm weird, loads of people are weird. It's pathetic.

Kizzy 26-03-2014 02:56 PM

I'll tell you what's weird these ex bullingdon coke snorting creeps that are making everyone homeless jobless and potless :/

Z 26-03-2014 03:19 PM

I'm more concerned by his abject failure to be a good politician than his striking resemblance to Donkey from Shrek.

Kizzy 26-03-2014 03:46 PM

What has he done or not done that made you feel that way z?

Just think he's been totally ineffective as the leader of the opposition and despite the Tories doing a hatchet job on the country, he's somehow managed to screw up making them look bad enough to give Labour strong popular support. Wouldn't be stunned if either the Tories hold onto power or Labour get in but only on a coalition basis with a flip flopping Lib Dem party who would look even more ridiculous and ineffective if they did so. All three of the parties are looking pathetic at the moment and only the Tories are looking effective which is the most worrying thing to me. I think that would be why they might win the next election.

(seriously)

Nedusa 26-03-2014 07:30 PM

Labour must be the party of politicians with speech defects, first Gordon Brown now Ed Miliband .

Not being funny but the GBP like to listen to leaders with good diction not someone who does voice overs for the Elephant man.

Good lord, do we now have to judge politicians for their looks and does that make them better politicians if they do look good.

Not for me, I have warmed to ED Miliband bigtime these last 2 years, I don't find him strange at all, to me he says what he feels and what he says is far more interesting to me than some in this Govt presenting failure as success and spending a near fortune likely on their appearance.

I too have had the privilege,(and I see it as a privilege, since he seems to care far more as to the most vulnerable in society than this heartless bunch now in Govt. ever will), of meeting Ed Miliband, albeit briefly.
He didn't seem strange in any way at all to me and he was also extremely polite. Something I haven't found a lot of with Conservative politicians,of who Theresa May must be the most ignorant and dismissive in my opinion.

I will have Ed Miliband, strange or otherwise, any day now to this procrastinating and not to be believed or trusted PM David Cameron.

Vicky. 26-03-2014 10:11 PM

Looks and silly voices dont matter at all to me really. I'm quite saddened that this seems to be a major factor in politics :/

If the topic had been about having no faith in Milliband as a leader, fair enough. But to be taking the piss out of him for being 'weird'...well thats just pathetic IMO

Also arista, to quote yourself, in reply to this

In my opinion and I am one that firmly wants to see Ed Milband become PM.
Any other election result in 2015 would in my view be a sad day indeed for those at the bottom and the most vulnerable in society and also for the Country too.
Not wanted by me for one is 4 to 5 more years of all the same hardline policies again that was supposed to be necessary to be done from the first year of 2010 to guarantee no more after 2015.

So for me,definitely I hope and want Ed Miliband to be PM.

Kizzy 26-03-2014 11:16 PM

Yey! good on you joey, when will we be seeing Mr Steele Labour MP then? ;)

lostalex 27-03-2014 06:17 AM

It really is a shame how things turned out. His brother would have done great things for that party. So well put together and confident.
