What is your strangest fear?

I sometimes nanny for a family with a different skin colour to me and I'm scared that when I take the child out, another person of that colour is going to take the kid and say it's theirs in front of everyone and that i'm trying to kidnap their child and i'm like no, I'm looking after this child and no one will believe me and then I have to grab the child and run with loads of people calling the police on me...

anyone else have a strange unrealistic fear like this?

lostalex 27-03-2014 10:49 AM

Aliens, UFOs, always that. It's been that same irrational fear since i was a small boy.

other than that, the next biggest fear is being homeless. just by some random thing happening, everyone in my family dying, and i have no money, just being totally penniless and nowhere to turn. i just end up alone on the streets with nothing. that's my second biggest fear. I'd kill myself.

That I am going to die and noone knows about it and Skye cries for days and days and eventually starves because of this. I have dreams about it and its awful :(

Firewire 27-03-2014 10:52 AM

I get scared that some drug lord is gonna kidnap me on the street and then make me their bitch and there's nothing I can do about it

That's heartbreaking...

I always want to teach the child in the OP to call 999 if anything happens to me, but they are too young.

It's a horrible thought being alone with children sometimes...

Joker, that situation does sound scary, Caitlin!

I am scared of taking any type of pills regularly in case I get addicted and become some kind of junky. :bawling:

I am scared that someone will fall in love with my boyfriend and give us trouble..

do you think it's a rational fear? I can always see people staring at us when I take him to the park and I'm like 'i bet they think i've kidnapped him'

Jessica. 27-03-2014 11:00 AM

Nah, I think you are safe enough, I know a few people whose kids are mixed race or look unrelated to them but I don't think anybody would actually want to steal a child and especially not publicly, it all just ties down to the fact that you want the child to be safe and you want to feel secure, so this is the worst case scenario that you could be in.

Firewire 27-03-2014 11:01 AM

I also have the fear that someone will cry rape against me even if I haven't done anything

Whenever I'm walking over a bridge or somewhere high, I have a fear that I'll get an urge to throw my keys or whatever I'm holding off, I have no idea why

when I was a kid I had a huge fear of being kidnapped during the night from my house. It would keep me up through the night, and every hour or so i would go around the house carrying a baseball bat making sure all the door were locked.

Don't you think when you are out with the child then people will just assume you are his mum and involved in an interracial relationship?

Rather than think you have kidnapped him?

I don't think I have any weird fears just normal ones.

No because of the colour difference, it's impossible...

Otherwise yeah I would

Sleeping with my back to the bedroom door or when I'm having a nap on the couch facing towards it, not sure why though.. I must think some beast is behind me ready to pounce and take me to the underworld

Livia 27-03-2014 05:58 PM

Lots of the roads where I live have ditches running either side of them and in icy weather quite a few cars end up in them. I have the feeling I'm going to end up upside down in one and unable to get out of the car. I've even had dreams about it... I keep a hammer under the passenger seat in case I have to break the windscreen.

Whenever I'm at one of those red man/green man pedestrian crossings on a busy road I always have a weird fear that I could easily be suddenly shoved into the oncoming traffic while I'm waiting for the green man, or that I might accidentally step out in front of the traffic for whatever reason and get run down

Would never happen of course but I guess it's just the ease with which it could happen which makes me worry about it

Bet it is Big Sam who comes charging through Novo's bedroom door in his nightmares when he is enjoying one of his little afternoon naps, the sight of a successful top flight manager is just too much to handle
