Oh I never heard about this

In October 2009, the host made a shocking on-air revelation on the Late Show that he had cheated on his wife, Regina Lasko, whom he had only married that March.

He made the confession after becoming the victim of an extortion plot concocted by a then-CBS producer, Robert Halderman, who demanded $2 million in exchange for his silence over the affairs.

I've never really "got" him, obviously it might just be down to cultural differences and the fact I didn't grow up watching him like people my age in the USA would have, but I don't think his interviews are very good. I feel the same way about Oprah, Ellen et al... very ego centric, they interrupt their guests a lot and don't really get much out of them, it's kind of lame to watch.

No he is well funny with his music man

He gets clips shown on FoxNewsHD

Yeah, I think his chat show (and other American chat show hosts) revolves around him as a personality rather than being a platform for his guests. Like with Graham Norton or Jonathan Ross, they have their little skits but it's always about the guests and you feel like you've 1) learned something about the person being interviewed and 2) have a bit of a laugh watching them. With Letterman (and others) it's more "this is my show and you're on it"... don't really find it entertaining.

[here's Farrah Fawcett under the influence of one thing and/or another during
her first appearance on the Late Show.
She talks about her then-recent Playboy appearance.]

Part 2 she grabs his jacket

Farrah no longer with us sadly.

But this was funny

Colbert has got it. And he's "not going to be in character" apparently

Marsh. 10-04-2014 07:05 PM

I found Letterman arrogant too.

And his and Ellen's interviews are never actually interviews, they're just "interrupt the guests for 5 minutes, laugh at random things and then cut to adverts/clips/dancing that takes up the majority of the airtime". It's hardly worth having some of the good guests on.

Colbert will be excellent as the new host. Will be sad to see Colbert Report go away.

I guess #CancelColbert did work after all.
