The Ultimate Warrior has died ... this according to the WWE.

Warrior -- real name James Hellwig -- was a WWE legend ... and was one of the most iconic wrestlers of all time.

So far, the cause of Warrior's death is unclear. He was 54 years old.

Warrior was just inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame the night before Wrestlemania XXX this weekend ... and last night, he made his first appearance on "Monday Night Raw" in years.

Triple H just tweeted, "Saddened to announce the passing of the Ultimate Warrior. Icon and friend. My sympathy to his wife Dana and his daughters."

Stephanie McMahon also tweeted, "#RIPUltimateWarrior Your strength of character is to be admired. There will never be anyone like you. Your spirit lives on in your family."

Hulk Hogan -- Warrior's greatest rival -- has also tweeted, "RIP WARRIOR. only love. HH"

WWE posted a message on the official website saying, "WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior. "

"Warrior began his WWE career in 1987 and quickly went on to become one of the biggest stars in WWE history. Warrior became WWE Champion at WrestleMania VI, defeating Hulk Hogan in an epic encounter. We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans."

"WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior’s family, friends and fans. Warrior was 54 and is survived by his wife Dana and his two daughters."

He looked alright on Raw as well, weird.

King Gizzard 09-04-2014 04:56 AM

Hope it was natural causes. A few people on twitter seem to think it may have been suicide

RIP

King Gizzard 09-04-2014 05:21 AM

Heartattack by the looks of things

Jordan. 09-04-2014 05:30 AM

Yeah, relieving it wasn't suicide but still tragic nonetheless

Ramsay 09-04-2014 07:23 AM

This is absolutely shocking especially considering he was only on Raw on monday :(
His exact words from his speech on monday
"Every mans heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe its final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the bodies of others; If it makes them believe deeper in something larger than life; than his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized."

RIP Warrior

sad news. I used to love him - he looks like he was out of breath a lot there - perhaps his heart.

But RIP
also why is he dubbed as 'one of the most iconic wrestlers of all time' when it's all fake :S
"defeating Hulk Hogan in an epic encounter" yes because the scriptwriters made it so?

Vanessa 09-04-2014 12:39 PM

I remember him. He's a legend. When i was younger Hulk Hogan was my favourite wrestler.

Josy 09-04-2014 12:44 PM

RIP :(

Black Dagger 09-04-2014 01:00 PM

I'm still depressed at this news.

Just shows you shouldn't take life for granted.

Ryan57 09-04-2014 01:45 PM

Just heard. Gutted. D:

When I watched wrestling as a kid he was one of my favourites. My second favourite infact. R.I.P. Legend.

You still have to be good at talking and be a dedicated athlete. It's not fake because they actually do put themselves through the pain barrier

Just look at it as a soap but with wrestling mixed in

Crimson Dynamo 09-04-2014 01:49 PM

Why did they make the Undertaker lose?

King Gizzard 09-04-2014 01:52 PM

Cause he is ****ed. He can't do it anymore. And I guess he wanted to lose the streak so he didn't have the temptation to come back

You could look at it the same reason as Rihanna is popular even though she uses songwriters

That isn't shady btw

I see. Thanks for being civil about it unlike some

He looked absolutely awful on Raw. The cameras kept cutting away from him when he tried to shake the ropes and he was very much blown up and out of breath from merely speaking.

It's absolutely heartbreaking for his family who seemed so young and normal and whom he seemed to love so, so much during his Hall Of Fame speech but those snaps of him over the weekend are what's really getting to me. Vince's age is finally starting to really break him down into a very humble looking old man enjoying the empire he has built and Warrior's smile is absolutely lens shattering in all of those pictures. You can't fake that. Nobody smiles like that for money or mere preservation of a legacy.

He said some crazy, stupid stuff in his haphazard dabbling in the political arena and he wasn't exactly the full bob but he was a true icon of the eighties and there is a whole generation of grown men in their thirties and forties who ran around the house with colored shoelaces tied to their arms finding out they were allergic to face paint as they trashed around on mum's bed.

Here is a touching retrospect from a brilliant writer over at a another forum I frequent : http://franticplanet.wordpress.com/2...ior-1959-2014/
