classic

It's my fave Spice Girls song too #GerisImpact

Z 22-04-2014 05:50 PM

Nah it's R&B done badly, one of their weakest singles and definitely not one you'd think of if you had to name 5 tracks by them - which says a lot seeing as they didn't really have many singles at all.

I think the Spice Girls are overrated to ****. Yes they pioneered a wave of girl bands and had some great tunes, there's no taking that away from them, but in my opinion there have been better acts who have come after them but it's apparently a crime against all things British to say anything other than the sun shines out their arses. Mel C's a great singer, Emma Bunton can hold a tune, the other three are ****e attention seekers.

Benjamin 22-04-2014 05:57 PM

For their time though they were amazing.

Of course, but in reality they had a very short career which imploded because the band was full of egos with no talent, for anyone who didn't grow up during Spice Girl mania they must wonder what all the fuss was about. Their music is so quintessentially of its time that I just can't take them all that seriously.

They put out 12 singles and 3 albums over 4 years, it's not like they were around for a particularly long time. The bloody Saturdays have lasted longer than them and had more hits! And we all know they couldn't hold a tune to save their lives. There's no denying how huge they were and how much of a cultural impact they had but I feel like people overhype their music.

I literally couldn't agree with you more

Girls Aloud and the Sugababes >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> the Spice Girls

Just in every way. Talent, quality of hits, number of hits... sure they didn't have the 'girl power' craze or layer upon layer of advertising (giving them Spice names was a stroke of genius, if you can call the reduction of 5 people to a quirk that) but honestly, looking back on the Spice Girls I just feel embarrassment and shame (the movie didn't help).

but no I can name ten better SG songs than Holler (Say You'll be There is my personal favourite).

They rode a wave and they owned. Other girl groups can feck off.

It was fun and it was hype but it was

Spice Up Your Life is an undeniable force of pop music, Wannabe is an enigmatic debut and Stop is a classic - but Overload and Sound of the Underground are cooler debuts than Wannabe; Sexy! No No No, Something Kinda Ooooh, Freak Like Me, Hole In The Head etc are just as in your face as Spice Up Your Life and so on and so forth. They were good for their time and they were top of the pile of most memorable pop acts but all of that has to do with their personalities and very little to do with their music. The music was secondary to everything else in Spice World.

Love this one, I found Let Love Lead the Way better though.

Say You'll Be There is my personal favourite, but I genuinely love all of their songs.
