I would rather eat a horse.

But these times we have probably been doing that for 10+ years without knowing.

If you are tired of london you are tired of life

a saying from 2 centuries ago that made zero sense back then and is just as meaningless today

"I slept like a baby last night"

Don't babies constantly wake up and cry most of the night?

Ramsay 29-04-2014 10:26 AM

''I could care less''
So you do care?

The original phrase was always "I couldn't care less"... Which makes perfect sense... I have no idea how it morphed into this nonsense. It seems to be an American thing. It grates on me every time I hear it on TV :/. Maybe it's supposed to be sarcasm? But it never sounds like sarcasm...

Cows lying down means its going to rain

Many comedians have used that one... "slept like a baby last night!... I kept waking up crying, and I wet myself". Etc..

That said, a friend of mine has a baby who sleeps like a log for 12 hours straight. Maybe whoever came up with the phrase had one of those?

I think it preempts the rest of the statement, 'I could care less...But I don't'

'I turned around and said' and 'at the end of the day' are two phrases that annoy me they are used to death and they don't really mean anything.

You can kill two birds with one stone..... no you can not because after you've hit the one bird with a stone the other one will just fly away.

Not a saying as such but

'Not to be rude but....' finishes the sentence by being rude.

Ryan57 29-04-2014 04:12 PM

'He's like marmite, you either love him or hate him'.

When everybody either likes or dislikes something or someone. :idc:

I hear "I can't see the wood for the trees" a lot. I hate it.

"A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"

... Is a bird really worth anything, anyway? I mean maybe some sort of rare bird, but... Just a normal bird? Could I quit my job and just go around swiping sparrows out of bushes?

Livia 03-05-2014 10:29 AM

"You're joking me". It's not proper English and it makes people sound stupid.

LikeABoatOnWater 03-05-2014 10:32 AM

When dumb ass americans say 'I could care less' instead of 'I couldn't care less'
