Tibb union representative

Now that the appeals section has been removed do you think it would be a good idea to have someone on the forum who you can go to when you have a problem.

they can then contact admin or the mod team.

two candidates that jump out are greg and ben, both have previously been mods and have a very good understanding of the rules but are also willing to question the rules and decisions when they feel they are unfair.

what does the forum think?

GypsyGoth 30-04-2014 06:56 AM

I think Marcus would be a good choice. He gets things done.

Shouldn't that be what the mods are for, as absolutely nothing can go wrong when you throw another layer in there.

Who would actually want to do that anyway? every time you logged on, you'd have 150 notifications waiting for you, and that's all you'd get to deal with, instead of actually being able to post.

Bang On Right

Ahh I'm flattered you mentioned my name and it does sound like an idea that could work but I wouldn't want to do it, the main reason I stepped down from moderating is because it was ruining my enjoyment of the forum. I felt that if I was going to continue to be a moderator I would have to continue to hold back parts of my personality and just generally not be myself in order to uphold the moderating ideal of being unbiased and fair. Sometimes you do have opinions that you want to express and you do want to make jokes and posts that you couldn't really get away with making as a moderator without being accused of being contradictory or biased in some way. I'd never say never to doing it again but I'm glad I stepped down and returned to being a normal member, all you get is a lot of criticism and complaints and not very much satisfaction.

How Sweet

Z 30-04-2014 08:02 AM

It's much better just being able to post whatever pops into my head; like whenever I'd post in Serious Debates as a moderator and a topic would get heated (as you would expect for a debating forum) you'd feel like you were being judged as biased if you then stepped in to moderate after you'd already taken some kind of side in a particular topic so then it would put you off from even taking part in those sorts of threads and it's one of my favourite boards on the forum so yeah, I was glad I could return to posting what I liked.

Good idea, then we can plan some strikes unless The Truth gets reinstated.

It would have to be a commoner with a thick local accent mind

Vanessa 30-04-2014 09:07 AM

I think it's a good idea, sheriff.

Josy 30-04-2014 09:43 AM

That's what mods are for.

can you say what problems you refer to?

Niamh. 30-04-2014 09:56 AM

I don't understand why you can't just PM a mod yourself lol we don't discuss other peoples bans/infractions/warnings with other forum members

Exactly, so I have no idea why people think we would suddenly start discussing other members with a randomly allocated member :umm2:

Member bans are nothing to do with anyone else and it's only through pure nosiness that anyone else takes an interest anyway.

It educates and will help people garner parameters and why not?

openness is far more desirable

Not breaking forum rules and therefore preventing infractions and bans in the first place is desirable.
