People with kids/who want kids...

I know everyone thinks their own kids are beautiful, but did mothers (when pregnant) ever fear that their kids will be ugly?

that's like one of my biggest fears... that my kids will take after me and be hideous children. Like I'm scared I'll pass on my blindness and my god awful hair... Maybe its because those are the two things I'm really insecure about, but still.

If I do have kids when I'm older and its through IVF or w.e I always wonder if I'd actually want my kids to actually be from my cells. I wouldn't want to put them through the hell of being a mini me lol...

Did any mothers on here worry about this? Or does anyone worry about it now?

I was bullied for how I looked, so maybe its all to do with that.

No idea what you look like, but numerous 'ugly' parents have produced good looking children.

Steven Tyler produced Liv Tyler
Gordon McQueen produced Hayley McQueen

What on earth? this couple are older... many moons ago that lady will have looked much like her daughter, that's how aging works.

I think a healthy baby is important rather than what he/she might look like.

Just a normal looking lad, must just be a bad pic that one of yours

Caitlin youre far from ugly.

And I think being 'ugly' can be relatively controlled... if they keep fit (diet + exercise), dress well and keep clean + trim (shower regularly, hair styles, shave etc. etc.) then the overall person will improve their appearance.

Maybe facially theyre not that easy going, and although I consider that most important, all those other factors do play a role and are in our control so I wouldnt fear having an 'ugly' child. They are somewhat responsible for that

imo

Jords 06-05-2014 02:30 AM

That said I dont find that many people 'ugly' tbh, ok the lot on Jeremy Kyle fair enough but in everyday life whom I come across not really. Sure Id class many as 'not attractive' but not necessarily 'ugly'.

I dont know. I just find that adjective quite cruel so avoid using it.

I got called ugly and wouldnt find a gf about a year ago, by a drunk mate, and I was genuinely not impressed at all I found it very offensive had a go at the ****er. 'fat' meh, thats objective, but 'ugliness' and 'attractiveness' is very subjective and more personal, I find. I have since continued to lose weight, got some nice clothes for nights out etc., started geling my hair now and then... Im far from vain but I just take care of myself a little more and well I wouldnt class myself as attractive but ugly nah.

Anyway this mate liked this girl who flirted with me when I visted some of them at uni not too long ago, I was impressed then :pipe:

But Im one who feels uncomfortable when people talk about celebrities being 'fit' and wishing 'all lads looked like X' etc. etc. Makes me feel not very, um, comfortable with myself I guess.

Bit off topic, but wanting to expand my opinion on attractiveness

When I went on meet the members and posted my pic I'm sure I saw a few of yours and I would concur with the above poster your definitely not ugly at all.

Kids in school will grasp at straws to find anything to have a go at because that's what some kids are like.

Caitlin....I did. Obviously, his health was the main thing but I did worry terribly especially as I knew I was having a boy. I didnt want him to be ginger and deal with what I had to growing up. When he was born I didn't ask if he had 10 fingers and toes etc....once I knew he was fine I asked if he was ginger. He was. But although biased he is bloody beautiful. He has dark eyes which help and doesn't have the usual ginger extremely pale skiln but even if he did once they're here you'll have plenty of other things to worry about

Natalie. 06-05-2014 06:37 AM

I don't think I want any but poor child if it looked like me  I wouldn't worry too much though as long as they're healthy

Kazanne 06-05-2014 06:42 AM

Cant say I ever worried about it and anyway beauty is in the eye of the beholder, those 'ugly' people named and pictured obviously weren't 'ugly' to their partners, like Kizzy said,I was much more worried about whether they would be healthy and have all their faciities, turns out they are all beautiful(in my eyes) plus,I'de worry more over what type of people they turn out to be.

Jack. 06-05-2014 06:45 AM

Caitlin I have seen photos of you on the meet the members page. Your not ugly. You a beautiful good lady :) and my sure that your kids would be aswell

That's something I've thought about sometimes. If I ever have the privilege of having a child I don't know what I would do if they turned out to be nasty sycophants that ruined other people's lives.

What can you do in that situation? They are your own flesh and blood. Huge grey area for me that.

agree, and Ryan I think you might need to go to specsavers as Mrs Moyes has great bone structure and lovely eyes so was probably a stunner in her day.

Great point, beauty is as someone else said in the eye of the beholder. I think it is a very rare person indeed that hasn't been taunted in some way, shape or form at school, being beautiful will not protect you from being bullied, nor will be being clever, as whatever end of the scale you are some kids just find ways to taunt others.

When there are so many other things to worry about, being "ugly" whatever that is should be way down the list, at any rate mother nature has made all babies cute so no need to worry.

What a sad and shallow opinion this is ? if your child was the ugliest baby born you would still love him/her ,and to you they would be beautiful, looks are nothing ,personality is what matters
