Prince Charles compares Putin to Hitler

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-27497899

I normally find Charles to be repulsive but I agree with him to an extent here.

Coming from the man whose life ambition is to be a tampon in Camilla's knickers?

LeatherTrumpet 21-05-2014 05:09 PM

i see him more like Gavin from Trollied

The article doesn't really tell us much and it was a private conversation.

Quote:

She added that she could not "exactly remember" the phrase the prince had used, but that he then "said something to the effect of 'it is not unlike what is now happening in Russia, what Putin is doing'".

"But it was only a moment... It was a very short remark."

Anyone who stands in the way of the west and their ambitions in recent years is compared to Hitler in some way or other, its just a boring uneducated overused opinion

In private he said it
Silly Fool

and he meets King Putin Soon

Not one of Prince Charles's better moments and a rather unhelpful comment at this time too.

This.

It's stupid when you consider that Britain and USA governments are far closer to Hitler if anything with their innocent casualties in other countires.

Livia 21-05-2014 06:24 PM

Lucky he didn't compare Putin to Stalin. Compared to Stalin, Hitler wasn't even a good amateur.

Nedusa 21-05-2014 08:28 PM

It's a bit rich these comments coming from an unelected soon to be head of state about a current elected head of state.

I think once he embraced tree hugging and plant conversations his credibility evaporated.

So what if he said it in private?

That is no excuse for an UNELECTED head of state to make the comments he did. He will have to be more careful when he finally becomes king (god help us all)

I still agree with what he said but I don't think he should have said it.

Livia 22-05-2014 07:43 PM

It was a private conversation, and one which the women he was talking to can't even remember exactly what it was he said. A private conversation should not be held up to public scrutiny, it's a ridiculous situation. Prince Charles is on an official visit representing this country as second in line to the throne - unelected yes, but he's not a president, this is not a dictatorship. He is entitled to express an opinion in private.

What about when Charles is UNELECTED Head of State? Should he still go round making such comments?

Rob! 23-05-2014 01:27 AM

It's totally true though.

Yes - no excuse
and we do not know if he will be alive
when its time to be king

Nedusa 23-05-2014 06:48 AM

The Russian government are very angry at these comments.

Stupid ignorant comment from someone who should have the sense to:

A. Know it is not the case
B. Even if it was true he should never make such a controversial comment in the first place.

This, it was overheard. Where is the actual proof that he said it, what was the context, was he joking, did he say it and then nudge her ass if a joke or that he was not being serious? The situation is utter nonsense.

I'm British, there's no need for you to capitalise the fact that the royal family, who have no political power, are unelected.

As far as I'm concerned, when he's having a private conversation, he can say whatever the hell he likes.

Nedusa 23-05-2014 09:43 AM

The only place he can have a private conversation is in his head. Anything he says that is reported regardless of how off the cuff or unintended will be scrutinised and debated by the masses, exactly because he is the future Monarch of this Country.

He has to be careful all the time and I would imagine the only people he can speak completely freely with are his closest friends and immediate family.
