TruTV to launch in the UK on digital free-to-air

truTV is to launch in the UK, it has been announced.

The 24-hour channel will be available on digital television free-to-air, and will broadcast a selection of original and unscripted programmes.

Fear Factor, singing competition Killer Karaoke and survival series Redneck Island are among the shows which will be broadcast.

The channel will launch in August, with further details to be announced in the coming weeks.

Redneck Island features iconic wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin, while a group of hillbillies compete for food and immunity from the 'beer ballot'.

Ink Master is described as a 'badass' version of Great British Bake Off, and stars Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro and Miami Ink's Chris Núñez, as tattoo artists compete in a weekly competition.

Other shows include Hardcore Pawn: Chicago, South Beach Tow, Container Wars and Bait Cars.

Fear Factor, singing competition Killer Karaoke and survival series Redneck Island are among the shows which will be broadcast.

truTV is also the home of Storage Hunters, which is currently shown on Dave in the UK.

Turner Broadcasting's Jemma Yates said: "truTV is larger than life compulsive viewing. The channel invites the audience into the worlds of real people in real life situations and gives them a chance to experience the often explosive, amazing and always entertaining situations that ensue.

"From the everyday encounters of two well-versed American brothers in a Chicago-based pawn shop in Hardcore Pawn: Chicago to the cringe-inducing spectacle that is Killer Karaoke, this is enthralling entertainment at its very best."

Conan O'Brien's US talk show is to air in the UK for the first time later this year.

The TBS show Conan will be broadcast on the upcoming Freeview channel truTV from August 4.

The hour-long programme features interviews, stand-up segments and musical performances, and will air on Mondays to Thursdays at 11pm.

O'Brien said in a statement: "I'm very excited my show will appear in the UK because my sense of humour has been so inspired by the English - from Python and Black Adder to Steve Coogan, Ricky Gervais and comedy legend Gordon Ramsay.

truTV, already an established channel in the US, will also bring its shows Fear Factor and Killer Karaoke to its UK edition among others.
