Is anyone fed up of being manipulated?

I just don't know anymore. I am starting to get really bored of Big Brother and the producers manipulations.

I could tell instantly when they all went in to the house who the producers were going to give a good edit to and who they were going to give a bad edit. When my friend said to me, "oh, a likable black girl for once, Big Brother has done the unthinkable", I simply replied, "give it time, I give it a week".

BB can pick and choose who they want the public to like. For instance, they were making Jale seem so unlikable in the first few days, but the minute they realised she could be really entertaining, they suddenly make her seem likable. Don't get me wrong, Jale is my tied favourite along with Toya, but I actually preferred the Jale who didn't seem to give a sh*t, not this 'sucking up to everyone' Jale we have seen the last few days.

I'm 90% sure I'm going to stop watching and just start watching when there is a couple of weeks left.

Please no smartass comments like "bye then". I'm just voicing my opinion, if you want to disagree, do so maturely.

The editing on the whole is crap.

That was a mess of an episode tonight. Soundbites with no context.

Josy 11-06-2014 10:51 PM

They can only show the housemates the way they are actually being in there though.

reece(: 11-06-2014 10:51 PM

I just want the feed back, too much is being left out.

smeagol 11-06-2014 10:54 PM

id like to challenge them to edit pauline in a good light lol

editing is obvious sometimes but up to the housemates not to show what they show, if y dont want to seem a bitch dont be bitch then cant edit it that way etc

Toy Soldier 11-06-2014 10:59 PM

The editing gets worse and worse. They play around with the order of events, too. Messed up and gave it away a couple of times last year... I remember in one HL show, they showed a whole section that was supposedly "2pm" or something, and in the background, Jack & Joe were wandering around with a big pink inflatable ring thing... then there were a few more scenes... then an ad break... then it was apparently 4pm and Jack and Joe were in the diary room... ... getting the task involving the big pink ring. Urrr... hmmm... yes, that pink ring they somehow magically had, apparently, 2 hours earlier. A time travelling task, maybe?

I dont think they have given either a bad edit I quite liked Jale when she first came in and ever since, and why would they do so just because she is a likable black female? Ever thought Toya could just be unlikable? Imagine for example if Toya was white and said she sold her boyfriends stuff on ebay and gave him the link, I can imagine she would be called a bitch.

But they can be and are extremely manipulative in the way they edit situations to make them seem to be something that they really weren't.
Channel 5 have taken the manipulation to a ridiculous level and it spoils the show so much!

And they can advise them, feed them what to say in the DR, do tasks giving roles to particular people, focus on particular opinions and ignore others, edit reaction shots in out of context etc etc.

Vote to evict is even easier to manipulate than vote to save as you could scupper a HM in just one week. Combine it with no live feed and it's the audience as puppets.

With vote to evict no edit is a good edit which means that many of those likely to stay longer won't even feature much. This is a really short term way to run what is supposed to last several months, build up the hate and evict week after week, until not many care about who's left Manufactured storylines like showmances aren't enough to keep the interest for most of the fans. They actually seem to show more respect to the celebs who they assume have fans before the show, they must think their cast for the normal version isn't even worth supporting.

that's not been the case at all, she's always been quite popular with the public :umm2:

Without them editing it to make more people seem boring/popular/unlike-able it would be a boring show to watch. They show people in different ways to evoke a reaction. It's always been edited (obviously) and we're always seeing what they want us to see. Just like EVERYTHING in the media, every tv show, film etc. it is no different. (trust me I'm a media student :hehe:)

InOne 12-06-2014 08:22 AM

The editing seems a bit different this year I've noticed. The show doesn't seem to flow like it used to. Even the last CBB was 10x better for the editing.

Crimson Dynamo 12-06-2014 08:44 AM

Its all mild trolling anyway as part of entertainment. The DM is a mild troll, Jeremy Vine on R2 is a mild troll, most of 5 live phone-ins are a mild troll - all to get reaction form the viewers and listeners

C5's job is to get viewers and ad revenue and not to show what is really going on.

Jamesy 12-06-2014 09:49 AM

After watching this it's easy to understand how BB could be edited.

In fact, when watching the episodes I've noticed a few times where sections have been sliced together to create one part of the episode.

Like the task in the garden on last nights show. There were points when the camera cut to one housemate, no sun, cut to another housemate, blazing sun. They clearly had sun/overcast during that task and edited it awfully.

Sophster 12-06-2014 10:03 AM

For me, it was how they made Ashleigh look like a brat for not eating the fish eye, when the full youtube video showed how she was vegetarian and therefore it was against her beliefs to eat it. That was definitely dodgy editing.

Razor 12-06-2014 10:57 AM

Without live feed it's hard to know how badly it's being manipulated.

Its not hard if youve got a brain and you watch properly you do get a sense whats been edited.
