Friends
What does the word "friend" mean to you? I am sure it has a different meaning to everyone so it would be interesting to hear about it. Do you consider anyone you chat to online as an actual friend? Do you have to meet up with someone quite regularly to consider them a friend?
I recently chatted to someone online by complete chance, she turned out to live just a few km from me, a day after meeting her online she was already suggesting that we meet in real life, I obviously would never do something like that, but it made me think for sure. To me a friend is someone whom I can trust, can trust me and wont take me too seriously unless I need them to. |
A friend is someone I feel comfortable around or talking to. Someone I can be myself with and know I won't be judged. Someone I can tell anything to and just expect them to be there no matter what it is. Someone who makes me laugh and someone I would miss if I didn't see/talk to them.
I have online friends I talk to every day who I'd consider closer friends then some of my real life friends and then some of my real life friends I wouldn't consider them a very close friend but I'd call them a friend anyway. |
A friend can be a friend in many ways, I have really close friends who are the people I share all my worries, anxieties and disappointments with but also all my excitement, joy, success and happiness.
As I do all of theirs too. There are also friends I have contact with but who have a special place with me, even people I haven't yet met. Some members on here for instance. I don't see friendship as meaning you have to agree on and enjoy all the same things. However, friendship to me, is that you respect those you call friends and even though you may disagree a lot with them even, that doesn't in any way alter the friendship because of the respect and affection you have come to have for them. |

People I know are divided into four groups:
1 Friends are people I like, trust, would go out of my way for and know they'd do the same for me, 2 Colleagues who you need to try your best to get on with even if they suck or your working life is crap, but I would never socialise with, 3 People I want to kill and skin (not necessarily in that order), and 4 Those who are worthless and don't even deserve my scorn. |
Well... hmmm old school/college/uni friends are usually the best and most lasting friendships you have as you've 'grown' together.
Special or best friends you can feel an affinity with, like being in love sort of, you love talking to or spending time with them even if you or them look/feel crappy. close friends are those you have a shared interest with you have the same hobby/job/interests. Colleagues, work buds you get on well with at work but never see outside work. drinking buds, those who make every night out fun but you rarely see outside of a social situation. online buds, those you chat with online but never meet, it hard to truly get to know someone until you speak really but it is possible to have great online mates. neighbours, everybody needs good neighbours with a little understand you can find the perfect blend. fam, people who are contractually obliged to love you but who can be friends too :) All these groups can be elevated or demoted at will. |
3 groups for me,
Two really best friends that I can trust with anything Aquaintainces,I have many, have a great laugh with them, and socialize, but never confide in them. Online friends I used to think couldn't happen, but surprisingly to me there ARE a handful of online people I have a great laugh and chat with and I would class those as friends too,but you have to be more careful with these. |
Especially if they happen to be in love with Boris johnson..... :idc: be very wary of them.
