I think Matthew is being incredibly patronising in this clip. He has a cheek to try and 'educate' anyone. I presume he thinks a strong Liverpudlian accent equates with thickness.

Mark isn't exactly ashamed of the fact he considers himself ignorant to some basic knowledge, in fact in some worrying instances he seems almost proud of it (Such as when Christopher told him his grammar was bad), I'd argue his accent doesn't really come into it.

If he had a plummy middle England accent, I doubt Matthew would assume he needed educating.
