9/11 - What were you doing?

What were you doing when you found out about 9/11?

I was getting ready for school, when my nan told me to come in the kitchen. I saw the TV and they were talking about two towers coming down and people dieing. I was in shock. I didnt understand about Terroism then, so I figured it was just an accident.

You guys?

(Sorry if anyone is offended, Im curious)

Princess 09-09-2006 08:20 PM

My brother's birthday is on 9/11 and I asked why we weren't going out for dinner and my dad told me what had happened. I was in school all day so didn't find out for ages. I can't beleive it has been 5 years

MarkWaldorf 09-09-2006 08:20 PM

Oh  I didnt want to go in, from what I remember. Then when I did, we just spoke about it.

Lauren 09-09-2006 08:21 PM

Was in school, I'd had a good day and I came home to tell my mum my grades but she kept telling me to be quiet while she watched the news. So I sat down to watch it and watched the second tower go down. Then watched it for about 5 days straight, watching all the coverage. I was about 10 or 11, but I remember hearing about all the people dying, and it was my first experience of terrorism at that age.

At the time, I didn't understand what could compel someone to do something to horrific.

Chrizzle 09-09-2006 08:21 PM

I was at school.
I came home, and saw news had taken over
But I didnt understand it, so I got in a strop cos CITV wasnt on.
Im so angry with myself now lol.

I got told details later, and understood

MarkWaldorf 09-09-2006 08:27 PM

Yeah. I remember more people talking about it after all the details were uncovered. It was on the news for weeks.

BigSister 09-09-2006 08:27 PM

I was walking home from school and i had a funny feeling something was going to happen but thought i was annoyed cos my grandma aunty uncle and 3 cousins had gone to Florida that day my mum told me and i said will they be ok and she said yeah but when we came home we rang up flights and said they were diverted to Canada iand I just watched tv all day
I had same gut feeling for 7/7 too

MarkWaldorf 09-09-2006 08:30 PM

Yeah, I remember they kept replaying the tower going down. And the Aeroplane flying past.

Lauren 09-09-2006 08:37 PM

I've still never quite got used to seeing that plane go into the towers, and I must have seen it 100+ times. It just looks so surreal.

MarkWaldorf 09-09-2006 08:39 PM

I know. Its amazing how the plane destroyed what it did. What shocked me was that the plane came back for the next tower.

LittleMissC 09-09-2006 08:42 PM

Seriously, it must have been horrible. Having to decide whether to burn to death or jump.... :puzzled:

sol 09-09-2006 08:43 PM

It was the first day back at school in Year 8 for me, and I just remember coming home and my parents were watching the news and I just saw the pictures of the towers with loads of smoke pouring out of the top of them.

If you mean the tower, most made their way out anyway

I know, but there was the mystery with the falling man remember.

Lauren 09-09-2006 08:49 PM

There was quite a lot of "fallers" - what a horrible decision to have to make.

MarkWaldorf 09-09-2006 08:50 PM

It was. Did anyone watch the programme with the falling man? No one knew him at all. There was the whole mystery.
